Reese: Giants Will Welcome Burress Back

May 17, 2014 3:22 AM

Giants general manager Jerry Reese is now saying that the team will welcome wide receiver Plaxico Burress back in 2009. However, his return to New York is tied to whether or not he goes jail on gun charges. Reese said the entire organization is "on board" with the plan to allow Burress to return as long as he agrees to play by the same rules as the rest of the team. "He said to me he's made some bad decisions. Everybody knows that," Reese said. "I think he's ready to move on and he told me the last time I spoke to him that, 'I think the light has really come on for me.' So I think he is ready to move on with his life, a new chapter in his life. Hopefully, he will able to do that. The legal process will tell the story."

Eli: Manningham Can Be Deep Threat

Jul 23, 2014 3:25 PM

If Plaxico Burress doesn't return to the Giants, Eli Manning believes that wide receiver Mario Manningham can be the team's deep threat. "I think we're hoping Mario Manningham can do that for us and be one of those guys who has speed and can run and make those deep catches," Manning said. "I think we have guys who can do that, but we'll see what happens the rest of the offseason and in the draft. Maybe we'll add another guy. Some of that is going to depend on Plaxico and what he's going to do." Manningham, a third-round pick in 2008, struggled last season after missing most of training camp.

Could Giants Move Up In Draft?

Sep 25, 2014 7:13 PM

If the Giants are serious about drafting an elite receiver in next month's NFL Draft, they'll have to trade up into at least the middle of the draft order. The Giants have the 29th selection in the draft, which means they'd likely miss out on Michael Crabtree, Jeremy Maclin and Darrius Heyward-Bey. However, New York has two second round picks to use in an attempt to move up higher in the first round.
