Sinorice Moss Upset Over Playing Time

Nov 8, 2014 7:32 AM

Sinorice Moss was upset after being used sparingly in the Giants' preseason loss to the Jets on Saturday. Moss didn't make his first appearance in the game until midway through the third quarter when he returned a kickoff. "You have to ask the coach," Moss told the New York Post. "I have no explanation. I really don't know what to say about what happened. When I did step on the field, I went out and did my best." Moss added that it was the most upset he's ever been in New York. "Of course, you don't think I'll be frustrated? I am. There's nothing I can do. I'm not the coach," the receiver added.

Nicks May Have Emerged As Giants' Top Threat

Jul 14, 2014 11:39 AM

Rookie wide receiver Hakeem Nicks may have established himself as the Giants' top target. Nicks caught six passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns in the team's preseason loss to the Jets on Saturday night. "He certainly was impressive, and he is a guy who is obviously going to make some tough catches, and he really has been doing that," coach Tom Coughlin told Yahoo! Sports. "That has not been discussed, but he certainly has put himself in position where he will get prime consideration."

Giants Attempt To Recover $300M Loss From Lehman Brothers

May 22, 2014 7:04 PM

The New York Giants have taken a staggering $300 million hit from the collapse of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. The owners of the team have filed a claim in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan seeking to recover $301.8 million from the failed investment bank. John Mara, the Giants president and co-owner, signed off on the claim. The Giants and the New York Jets are building a new $1.6 billion stadium in New Jersey that will serve as the home for both New York metro-area football teams.

Giants Unhappy With David Carr

Jun 27, 2014 11:04 AM

The Giants aren't pleased with how backup quarterback David Carr has looked this summer. "I'm not pleased with David right now," quarterbacks coach Chris Palmer told the New York Post. "I think he's got to be more consistent. There's certain things he has to improve on, I've told him that. He has the ability to play in this league. He's a very, very talented player but he's got to do the things the way we want them done." Palmer added that he was very pleased with how Carr looked in limited duty last season, but some of his bad habits have returned. Carr has a tendency to run out of the pocket often, not something the Giants want him doing. "Every year is a new year," Palmer said. "Sometimes you break a horse and sometimes he goes out to pasture and when he comes back in you have to re-train him. We're in the process of retraining right now."

Risdon's NFL Season Previews, Version 2.0

Sep 17, 2014 10:48 AM

Few insiders know the NFL better than RealGM's Jeff Risdon, who is 21 teams into his team-by-team season previews. Click on the links below for the most in depth and readable previews anywhere. - Oakland Raiders The Raiders are a tough cloud to forecast. There is a great deal of potential here on defense and with JaMarcus Russell and the running backs, but it's tough to give them the benefit of doubt until they prove it. - New York Giants The Giants have some question marks on offense, but their defense has the potential to be special. - Cincinnati Bengals The return of Carson Palmer and upgrades to the OL should fix the offense, but there are still legit questions. The defense is loaded with young talent, but it must continue to develop and make plays. - Indianapolis Colts If it wasn't for Peyton Manning, the Colts would have a difficult time dealing with an overhauled coaching staff and the loss of Marvin Harrison. - Philadelphia Eagles Many are high on the Eagles heading into the season, but Jeff points out that a lot will have to fall in place for them to piece together another playoff run. - Kansas City Chiefs The Chiefs are in the middle of a massive rebuild, and they may regret getting rid of Tony Gonzalez. - San Diego Chargers If their injured stars are healthy, the AFC road to Miami will probably go through San Diego. - Atlanta Falcons The Falcons are for real, but a tough schedule could keep them from making their second consecutive playoff appearance. - New York Jets The 2009 season might not go as planned, but the future is bright for the Jets with Mark Sanchez at quarterback. - Seattle Seahawks There are a lot of question marks regarding Seattle's health and depth on the offensive line, but a return to the playoffs is possible. - New Orleans Saints Reggie Bush isn't going to be the running back many want him to be, but he's still one of the most dangerous players in the game. Keep checking in daily as Risdon takes us on a tour around the NFL. - Click here to read Version 1.0 of Risdon's NFL Season Previews

Burress: Club Security Was Aware I Had Gun

Oct 31, 2014 5:16 AM

Plaxico Burress says that club security at a New York nightclub knew he had a gun the night he mistakenly shot himself in the leg. That gunshot landed him in jail for two years after a guilty plea last week. The receiver will be sentenced on Sept. 22. Burress spoke for the first time publicly in an interview with ESPN that will air on Tuesday evening. "It wasn't like I was trying to hide it," Burress said of the weapon. "I go into this place and go through the security -- they know I have it and they pat me down and they said 'OK,' and they let me in with it."

Coughlin Thinks Giants Are 'Over-Hyped'

Feb 16, 2014 8:41 AM

Giants coach Tom Coughlin is upset with the media for "over-hyping" his team. Coughlin said that "you have to earn everything that is said about you," and fired shots at his players for believing what they hear. "I just think that for so long we've (read that) we've got so much depth. I don't know what you're watching, but the guys that are supposed to be the depth have hardly even practiced," Coughlin told the New York Daily News. "I think you're talking about something that looks good but hasn't really materialized. Until we get this thing straightened around with everybody on the field, this rotation and this depth that we're talking about really is a nonfactor right now." The Giants lost to the Bears 17-3 on Saturday. "I think you have to earn everything that is said about you," Coughlin said. "What we believe in is that talk is cheap. Let's do it on the field. It's been very spotty on the field, so obviously it's time to get to work and get this the way we want it to be, and for people to come to grips with reality."

Burress Pleads Guilty, Agrees To Serve Two-Year Prison Term

May 17, 2014 3:15 AM

Plaxico Burress pleaded guilty to a weapons charge on Thursday and agreed to a two-year prison term for accidentally shooting himself at a Manhattan nightclub. Burress pleaded guilty to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon, a lesser charge than he initially faced. Under a plea agreement, he agreed to a two-year prison sentence and two years of supervised release. Burress was indicted earlier this month on two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of reckless endangerment. He faced a minimum sentence of 3? years if convicted at a trial. His attorney, Benjamin Brafman, said in court that the 31-year-old Burress was thinking of his family in taking the plea, although he questioned the recommended prison sentence. "This was not an intentional criminal act," Brafman said. "In my judgment, a two-year prison sentence is a very severe punishment."

Recent Super Bowl Winners Have .629 Preseason Winning Percentage

Aug 3, 2014 6:14 AM

The preseason may or may not be meaningless, especially when the Lions go undefeated in the 2008 preseason and then don't win a single game in the regular season. But at the same time, preseason records have been at least somewhat indicative of future success. The past 15 Super Bowl winners have a combined preseason record of 39-23 (.629) in the preseason in which they win the Super Bowl. The 2008 Steelers went 3-1, but the 2007 Giants went 1-3 as they upset the then undefeated Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. New England went 2-2 in that preseason before winning 18 consecutive games, including playoff wins over the Jaguars and Chargers.

The sources told the New York Daily News that there is a chance that commissioner Roger Goodell could suspend Burress for the entire 2009 season. Burress was indicted earlier this month on two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a felony, and one count of reckless endangerment in the second degree.
