Crowder Hints He Sold Jerseys In College

Oct 31, 2014 12:38 PM

Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder says college players should be able to sell their game jerseys -- something he "hypothetically" did when he played for the Florida Gators. Crowder discussed the subject during the debut of his new two-hour weekly talk show on WQAM radio in Miami. "I'll say hypothetically I don't have any more of my Florida jerseys," Crowder said. "There were some Jacksonville businessmen that really hypothetically liked my play."

Oct 31, 2014 3:42 PM

Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder is one of the most popular players on the team's roster, but he knows he's not well liked around the rest of the NFL. "I know people hate me. When people hate on you you've got to be doing something right," Crowder said. Crowder is a six-year starter for Miami.

Brown Ready For Next Phase Of Career

Jun 17, 2014 8:54 AM

With his future in Miami in doubt, Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown is prepared to begin the next phase of his football career. The Dolphins selected Brown with the second overall pick back in 2005 and the front office has made public comments hinting that the free-agent-to-be won't be brought back. Brown is ready to move on if that's the case. "It's hard, but I am because I came to the reality that that's a possibility," Brown said. "You try to put everything in perspective, and my biggest thing is trying to be prepared as much as you can."

Dolphins Not Interested In Pryor As QB

Oct 10, 2014 2:12 AM

The Dolphins aren't interested in acquiring Terrelle Pryor as an upgrade at the quarterback position. Miami general manager Jeff Ireland said recently that the team had begun evaluations of "an Ohio State player" in advance of the NFL's supplemental draft, but he added that he wants a quarterback with experience. "You need someone that's got some savvy to him, for sure," Ireland said. "Even someone that can come in and pick it up pretty quickly. But I can't get into descriptive terms about what I'm looking at — you'd pinpoint the guys I'm looking at. "But yeah, you need someone savvy and experienced, for sure."

Sparano: Henne Has Good Chance To Start

Oct 10, 2014 2:13 AM

Chad Henne has a good chance to start for the Dolphins this coming season, according to coach Tony Sparano. "The one thing we've had time to do is a lot of homework and study," Sparano said. "And I would tell you when you put Chad's numbers up against some of the better quarterbacks in our league, his numbers are pretty impressive. They hold up. Now what has to happen? We have to cut down the impulse throws, the interceptions that happen late in the fourth quarter."

Ireland: Start Of Free Agency Will Be 'Nuts'

Oct 10, 2014 4:44 PM

Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland expects the beginning of free agency to be quite the affair. Free agency has been delayed because of the NFL lockout. "I don't know how to describe it other than nuts," Ireland said. "As each day goes by you're putting another plan together because that's a day that's gone," Ireland said of his team's approach preparing for the NFL's regular season, which is less than three months away.

Dolphins Hint At Changes In Backfield

Oct 10, 2014 4:24 PM

Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland isn't happy with the look of his backfield. Miami drafted Kansas State bruiser Daniel Thomas in the second round and both Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown are free agents. "I'm interested in having another back, whether it fits the description of a scatback or not, we'll have to see what's available. You can't corner yourself into just a scatback," general manager Jeff Ireland said. What this means for veteran incumbents Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown is unclear, but it doesn't sound promising for either. "We need another complementary back who complements Daniel [Thomas] and Lex [Hilliard]," he said. "We do have somewhat of a scatback in Kory Sheets that we haven’t seen yet, so I'm still hoping he can develop."

Dolphins Rookie Forced To Get Job

Oct 10, 2014 4:25 PM

Dolphins rookie Charles Clay has been forced to get a regular job while the NFL lockout lingers. Miami drafted the Tulsa fullback in the sixth-round of April's NFL Draft. Clay's is in debt to his agents and trainers. So to stay afloat he's been receiving day labor type work with a company called LPD, which has him cutting grass at oil wells and doing odd jobs like cleaning the jacks to make ends meet. "It's hard times right now," Clay said. "I'm working little small jobs and things to get money. Not getting an income right now is tough, especially when I'm trying to have a facility to workout in, and have to pay for things like [trainers]."
