The Dolphins don't intend to release quarterback Sage Rosenfels from injured reserve at this point, according to sources. Reports indicated that Miami would release Rosenfels, who then would join the Texans, but the Dolphins plan to hold on to the veteran quarterback at this time, despite the undisclosed illness that landed him on IR. The Texans are in the market for a quarterback after Matt Leinart was knocked out of Sunday's game against the Jaguars with a collarbone injury. The Texans already lost Matt Schaub for the season to a right foot injury.

If the 0-10 Colts are removed from the equation, the other 15 AFC teams are all between 3-7 and 7-3. The Dolphins started the season 0-7, but have won their most recent three games is in impressive fashion.

The Bills lost Fred Jackson, the NFL's leading rusher, in their disappointing loss to the Dolphins on Sunday afternoon. Jackson was taken to the locker room in the third quarter with a leg injury.

The Dolphins have signed veteran kicker Shayne Graham for Sunday's game against the Bills. A strained groin will prevent Dan Carpenter from facing Buffalo. He hurt his right groin in practice Thursday and was limited in Friday's workout for the Dolphins, who started the season 0-7 but have won their last two games.

Former Dolphins running back Mercury Morris, a member of the team's famed 17-0 team in 1972, says he will toast the Packers if they go undefeated this season. "If they do it, I will toast them," Morris said. This is coming from Morris, who sounded off against the Patriots regularly in a 2007 season that saw them stumble at the finish line with a 17-14 Super Bowl XLII loss to the Giants. New England finished that season 18-1. "I like [the Packers]. If they get to 10-0, which they probably will, I'm going to send [quarterback] Aaron Rodgers one of my CDs," said Morris, a 1,000-yard rusher during the perfect season who has written a song about it. "I have nothing but good things to say about the Packers. If they [end up] in our neighborhood, they're a credit to the sport. They don't have a bunch of guys out there who view themselves as entertainers. "I didn't like the way [the Patriots] came across [four years ago]. They thought it was just a formality [finishing 19-0] … They were too much in your face. They wanted you to bow down to them and kiss the king's ring."

Dolphins coach Tony Sparano says cornerback Vontae Davis will play on Sunday against the Redskins if he's healthy. Davis wasn't in Kansas City for his team's 31-3 victory against the Chiefs for what was described as a non-injury situation. Reports circulated that Davis had been left home after he was involved earlier in the week in an altercation with Brandon Marshall. "Fellas, honestly, it's going to stay within us. If it's going to get to you people, it's going to get to you people not through me, OK. So that's just the way I am, it's the way I prefer it. So that's the way it's going to be," Sparano said of the situation. "It's something that I needed to do here and that's what I chose to do. And it's over and we're getting ready to play the Redskins and I have every intention of Vontae being ready to go on Wednesday."

The Dolphins won their first game of the season on Sunday despite not having cornerback Vontae Davis in the lineup. Davis was out for a "non-injury" reason following a reported altercation with teammate Brandon Marshall this past week. He was disciplined for showing up late to practice on Saturday. The team believes he was drunk the night before and when he showed up at practice, he smelled of alcohol, according to a source. Several members of the team had apparently been out late Friday, but Davis was the only one who was late for practice.

A reported fight between Brandon Marshall and cornerback Vontae Davis this week stemmed from a late arrival to practice. Davis showed up late to an important practice this week after a late night out, according to multiple sources both inside and outside the organization. After Davis reported to practice, he eventually was confronted by Marshall, who began berating the cornerback for acting unprofessional. A shouting match broke out, and Marshall threw a football hard from point-blank range into Davis' face, a source with knowledge of the altercation said. Davis had to be restrained as he went after Marshall. A source close to Davis said the cornerback was "about to rip (Marshall's) head off" after comments that he believed "crossed the line."

The Dolphins defeated the Chiefs 31-3 on Sunday afternoon to earn their first win of the 2011 season. Miami quarterback Matt Moore threw for 244 yards and three touchdowns and Reggie Bush had 92 rushing yards and another touchdown in the victory. Moore, who took over after Chad Henne had season-ending shoulder surgery, became the first Dolphins quarterback since Chad Pennington in 2008 to throw three touchdown passes. The Colts, 0-9, are the only winless team remaining.
