Former Dolphin Mandich Dies At 62
Jim Mandich, who won two Super Bowl rings with the Dolphins and later became a popular radio announcer for the team, died Tuesday at age 62.
The Dolphins confirmed the death of Mandich, who was also a star at Michigan. He was diagnosed with bile-duct cancer in early 2010, but continued to work on game broadcasts last season.
Mandich was a tight end for the Dolphins when they achieved the NFL's only perfect season in 1972, and he helped them repeat as Super Bowl champions the following year.
Marshall's Wife Made Brief 911 Call
A brief 911 call was placed by the wife of Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall described only an unspecified emergency, with no mention of a stabbing, police said Monday.
Twice she said "Please come, it's an emergency." The dispatcher tried to find a location, but Michi Nogami-Marshall apparently hung up and didn't answer a return call.
Deputies say Nogami-Marshall stabbed her husband in the abdomen with a kitchen knife. She is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Dolphins Continue To Investigate Marshall Incident
The Dolphins are continuing their investigation into the incident that allegedly left wide receiver Brandon Marshall with a stab wound to the stomach.
The team is unable to communicate with Marshall directly -— the NFL is restricting such contact because of the lockout, and with government offices closed Sunday, no new information was released.
Marshall Has Defensive Wounds On Hands
Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall has defensive wounds on both his hands following an altercation with his wife on Friday, according to a source.
Marshall was released from the hospital on Saturday, a day after his wife stabbed him in the stomach with a kitchen knife.
Marshall's agent, Kennard McGuire, said the receiver is expected to make a full recovery in 2 to 3 weeks.
"This is a very difficult time for Brandon and family," McGuire and Marshall's lawyer, Harvey Steinberg, said in a joint statement. "Thankfully, he will make a full recovery. We simply ask that his privacy is respected."
Police: Wife Stabbed Marshall
Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall was released from the hospital Saturday after what police said was a domestic-violence incident in which he was stabbed by his wife with a kitchen knife.
Marshall's wife, Michi Nogami-Marshall, was arrested by the Broward County Sheriff's Office on a domestic-violence charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The Pro Bowler underwent emergency surgery Saturday morning, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Marshall was discharged later in the day and "expected to make a full recovery," according to his publicist.

Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland admitted on Thursday that the team has "spent a lot of time" with Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett.
"I went there to visit with him. He's come here to visit with me and to visit with him as well," Ireland said of Mallett. "I feel like we've been very thorough ... in that process, much like we are with every player that we are considering drafting.
"Sometimes when there's information out there, you want to dispel rumors and get as much information that you can with any player out there, and that's why we went through the process. He's a nice young man, very talented kid, got a bright future."
Miami owns the 15th overall pick and may be in need of a quarterback.

The Dolphins intend on adding a scatback type like DeAngelo Williams through the draft or free agency, according to The South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
The plan is to also restock the running back corp with a combo of veteran and draftee.
