Martavis Bryant: Colts DB 'Tried To Hurt Me'

Aug 28, 2017 9:03 AM

Martavis Bryant says he took an "intentional" late hit from Indianapolis Colts safety Matthias Farley while on the ground during Saturday's preseason game.

Bryant was discussing how he bulked up in the offseason when he referenced a screen play early in the second quarter that resulted in a gang tackle. Vontae Davis brought Bryant down by his right ankle, and with his left knee down, Farley flew in for an upper-body hit.

"I feel better about my body and my ability on the field. I don't have to worry about taking so many injuries from different plays like yesterday where he tried to hurt me," Bryant said. "Just making sure my body feels good and I stay in shape."

Asked about the nature of the hit, Bryant said it was "definitely intentional."

"I was already on the ground. It is what it is," Bryant said. "My foot was already bent. ... [Farley] just came in and hit me."

Andrew Luck's Status For Week 1 Remains Uncertain

Aug 16, 2017 8:04 AM

Jim Irsay cannot "unequivocally" say that Andrew Luck will play in their Week 1 opener against the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 10.

The Indianapolis Colts believe Luck will be off the physically unable to perform list before the start of the regular season, but his status for Week 1 remains in the air. Luck will need some practice time once he is taken off of PUP.

"I don't want to act that it is a foregone conclusion that he's not going to be starting out there [against the Rams]," Irsay said. "I mean, he could but also could not. We don't see an extended delay, but we're not going to put a timetable on it. We will not put any pressure on this decision."

Luck originally injured his right shoulder in Week 3 of the 2015 season. He played through the shoulder pain until he finally had the surgery in January.
