Andrew Luck Seeking More Opinions On Shoulder

Oct 30, 2017 3:51 PM

Andrew Luck is seeking more opinions to figure out why his surgically repaired shoulder is "not progressing as expected," according to an Indianapolis Colts source.

Luck had what the team believed was a mild setback more than two weeks ago, when he experienced soreness in his throwing shoulder after he was cleared to practice. He received a cortisone injection, only to experience another setback, which the team does not believe is serious, a source said.

The quarterback had surgery to repair a torn labrum on Jan. 15 and the recovery has not gone as expected.

Matt Nagy Could Be Colts' Top Coaching Candidate

Oct 28, 2017 8:49 AM

Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy is expected to be a coveted head coaching candidate in the near future.

According to a source, the Indianapolis Colts could have Nagy atop their list of candidates if they part ways with Chuck Pagano. Nagy worked with Colts' general manager Chris Ballard with Kansas City.

Nagy is credited for his work with Alex Smith and Patrick Mahomes.

Nagy has worked under Andy Reid for a decade.

No Indications Colts Will Fire Chuck Pagano

Oct 24, 2017 9:18 AM

The Indianapolis Colts appeared to hit rock bottom during Sunday's 27-0 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, but Chuck Pagano appears safe.

Jim Irsay has never fired a coach during the season and he and Chris Ballard prepared for a rough season. Recent results won't necessarily motivate them to deviate from their patient, long-term approach, according to sources.

The Colts are 2-5 after Sunday's loss.

T.Y. Hilton Blames Colts' Struggles On O-Line

Oct 23, 2017 8:22 AM

After the Indianapolis Colts lost 27-0 to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, T.Y Hilton pointed the finger at the team's offensive line.

"We (were) winning our matchups," Hilton said of he and his fellow receivers. "The O-line just got to play better."

The offensive line gave up 10 sacks against Jacksonville and no team has allowed their quarterback to be hit more than the Colts this season.

Over the last two games, Hilton has just three catches for 46 yards.

"As far as receiving, nothing can change," he said. "We got to take some pride up front and block for him. What if we put them (the offensive linemen) back there and take those hits?"

Andrew Luck will again not practice this coming week.

While Luck's return continues to be put off, the Indianapolis Colts are still not considering placing him on injured reserve. If Luck is healthy, the Colts will place him this season.

Andrew Luck To Stop Throwing Due To Increased Soreness

Oct 19, 2017 10:59 AM

Andrew Luck will stop throwing due to soreness in his surgically repaired right shoulder.

Luck practiced for two days two weeks ago and then increased his workload last week.

"The doctors and the trainers have decided to give him a cortisone shot to kind of take away some of that inflammation that's been happening," Chris Ballard said.

"He'll continue to rehab. We're just going to shut down the throwing right now to get this thing calmed back down."

Ballard would not put a date on when Luck will resume practicing.

The Indianapolis Colts aren't prepared to put Luck on injured reserve at this time.

Andrew Luck Says He'll 'Definitely' Play This Season

Oct 7, 2017 10:21 AM

Andrew Luck took part in practice on Wednesday for the first time this season, but has already been ruled out for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Luck will take part in individual drills again on Friday after using Thursday as a rehabilitation day.

The Indianapolis Colts quarterback revealed that his surgery was a posterior labrum repair, which traditionally takes longer to heal than other types of labrum procedures.

"I'll definitely play this year," Luck said when asked if he'll play this season. "No question."

Luck, however, didn't offer a timeline for when he'll return to the field.

"There have not been any setbacks at all ... I do feel like I've progressed," he said. "We've never put out a schedule, per say. There have been goals and they've been time-oriented with dates. And we've managed to meet those goals. But as far as a schedule, I think that's a dangerous word to use in regards to coming back as a quarterback with a throwing-shoulder surgery."

Andrew Luck Will Return To Practice This Week

Oct 3, 2017 6:54 PM

Andrew Luck will return to practice with the Indianapolis Colts this week.

"We'll slowly start working him back into practice this week," Chris Ballard told WFNI-1070 AM in Indianapolis. "We'll see how much he gets. But we've got a plan in place to where we want him to start getting him reps, and then in time, as we can get him incorporated back into team work and all that, we'll get him back on the field."

Luck had right shoulder surgery in January. He began training camp on the physically unable to perform list, but was taken off PUP prior to the start of the regular season.

Jacoby Brissett will continue to start at quarterback until Luck is ready to play in his first regular-season game since Week 17 of the 2016 campaign.

"Everybody has to understand he's not going to come back and take all the first-team reps and play 50, 60, 70 snaps in practice a day," Chuck Pagano said. "We have to integrate him back into practice. Like anybody else, do some individual, throw some routes versus air, stay with his throwing progression and bring him along. Again, it'd be great just to have him out there with his teammates, red jersey on, working again."
