Russell Wilson's Foundation Spent More On Salaries Than Charities

Feb 9, 2023 4:57 PM

A six-month investigation into Russell Wilson's Why Not You Foundation was published by the USA Today, which detailed that it spent twice as much money on its employees than it contributed to charitable activities.

Wilson's foundation reported it spent $600,000 on charity and $1.1 million on employee salaries and benefits from 2020-2021, according to federal tax records obtained by USA Today. In the simplest of terms, that means the Why Not You Foundation spent 21.3 cents of every dollar on charitable activities in 2020 and 27.2 cents of every dollar on charitable activities in 2021. Over the past eight years, only 39.6 cents of every dollar was spent on charity, per tax documents.

Ryan Tarpley, the CEO of the foundation who also works for Ciara and Russell Wilson’s family office, made more than $200,000 annually over the past two years, while executive director Carly Young earned more than $150,000 annually during the same timeframe.

Sean Payton Says Russell Wilson's QB Coach Won't Be In Facility

Feb 7, 2023 8:39 AM

Sean Payton was formally introduced as head coach of the Denver Broncos on Monday and he preached discipline, an eye for details and a focused pursuit of winning that "is not for everybody."

Payton was hired largely to help Russell Wilson, who struggled in his first season with the team.

Asked if Wilson could continue to have a personal quarterback coach -- Jake Heaps -- as well as other support personnel to work with the quarterback in the building, Payton was clear on where he stood.

"I'm not too familiar with that," Payton said when asked about Wilson having Heaps in the building with access this past season. "That's foreign to me -- that's not going to take place. I'm unfamiliar with it. Our staff will be here, our players will be here and that will be it."
