Official: No Criminal Negligence In Tillman Death

Aug 31, 2014 10:23 PM

A government official said Monday that investigators probing the friendly fire death in Afghanistan of former football star Pat Tillman found no criminal negligence. The findings end a yearlong inquiry into the conduct of the U.S. soldiers who shot Tillman in 2004 and a possible subsequent cover up. The Army announced in March 2006 it would open a new investigation into the circumstances of Tillman's death, in response to complaints from Tillman's family and congressional representatives that previous probes had left key questions unanswered.

Pentagon: Officials Withheld Details Of Tillman's Death

May 18, 2014 2:45 AM

A Pentagon investigation will recommend that nine officers, including up to four generals, be held accountable for missteps in the aftermath of the friendly fire death of Army Ranger Pat Tillman in Afghanistan, senior defense officials said. The Defense Department inspector general will cite a range of missteps and inappropriate conduct as the military probed the former football star's death on the battlefront in 2004, said one defense official. The official, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue, said it appears that senior military leaders might not have had all the facts or worked hard enough to get the facts of what happened on that day in April 2004.

Cowboys Sign Davis

Sep 16, 2014 10:08 AM

Former No. 2 overall pick Leonard Davis became the richest offensive lineman of this year?s free-agent class when he agreed to a seven-year, $49.6 million contract with the Cowboys on Sunday. The deal eclipses the seven-year, $49.5 million pact that Eric Steinbach received from Cleveland on Friday. The plan for Davis, who spent the first six years of his career with Arizona, is to play either right tackle or right guard for the Cowboys. Dallas is trying to re-sign right tackle Marc Colombo. If the Cowboys do that, Davis will play right guard.
