Roger Goodell Paid $34.1M In 2014 Compensation

Feb 17, 2016 11:44 AM

Roger Goodell received $34.1 million in compensation during 2014, according to a tax filing the NFL filed on Tuesday.

Goodell struggled with multiple scandals in 2014 from domestic violence suspensions to Deflategate.

Goodell had a $3.5 million base salary, but also received a bonus of $26.5 million, a figure that was determined in 2013.

In the nine years as commissioner in which his salary has been disclosed, Goodell has now made an average of $20 million a year and a total of $180.5 million.

NFL revenues were about $11 billion in 2014.

Last April, Goodell said that the league office would get rid of its tax exempt status because it was "mischaracterized repeatedly" and "will make no material difference to our business."

CBS, NBC Reach $450M Deal With NFL On Thursday Night Football

Feb 2, 2016 10:55 AM

The NFL has reached a deal with CBS and NBC for Thursday Night Football.

The rights will be roughly $450 million.

NBC and CBS will each air five games and the NFL Network will exclusively air eight games.

The NFL is in active discussions with prospective digital partners for OTT streaming rights to Thursday Night Football.

“We are continuing to make Thursday Night Football bigger and better. CBS has played an integral role over the last two seasons in helping build Thursdays as a night for NFL football, and we're excited to have them on board again," said Roger Goodell. “At the same time, we're thrilled to add NBC to the Thursday Night Football mix, a trusted partner with a proven track record of success broadcasting NFL football in primetime, and look forward to expanding with a digital partner for what will be a unique tri-cast on broadcast, cable, and digital platforms."
