Vikings Release Blair Walsh

Nov 15, 2016 7:53 PM

The Minnesota Vikings have released Blair Walsh after auditioning a handful of other kickers last week.

Walsh missed an extra point in Sunday's loss against Washington, bringing his total up to four misses this season.

Walsh also missed a 27-field goal in last year's playoffs against the Seahawks.

On Monday, as Walsh worked out at the Vikings' facility on his own, head coach Mike Zimmer remained noncommittal about the kicker's future.

"We're going to see what all the options are," he said. "We're going to see what the options are at tackle. We're going to see what the options are at kicker, and then make a determination and go."

Eagles Release Josh Huff

Nov 3, 2016 4:09 PM

Josh Huff has been released by the Philadelphia Eagles two days after he was arrested and charged with possessing an unloaded 9 mm handgun without a permit, a magazine that had six hollow-point bullets and a small amount of marijuana.

In a statement released to ESPN's Adam Caplan, Huff said, "First, I want to apologize to Mr. Lurie and his family, my coaches and teammates, and all Eagles fans. I'm sorry that any action by me brought negative light to this organization. I want to thank the Lurie Family, Howie [Roseman], this community and the entire Eagles organization for the opportunity I've had for the past 3 years. Most important, I want to let the fans and community as a whole know that I understand the responsibility I have as a professional athlete, and I will take all measures necessary to correct mistakes I have made."

Huff had practiced with the team Wednesday.

Asked whether he believes everybody in the Eagles locker room and around the league carries a gun, Huff said, "I do. Yes, I do."

Huff was arrested on the gun and drug charges after he was pulled over for speeding on the Walt Whitman Bridge on the New Jersey side.

Jets Release Knile Davis, Agree To Deal With C.J. Spiller

Nov 3, 2016 8:53 AM

The New York Jets claimed Knile Davis on waivers but decided to release him hours later after signing C.J. Spiller.

Spiller will join Matt Forte and Bilal Powell in the Jets' backfield.

Davis was traded by the Chiefs to the Packers on Oct. 18th, played two games for Green Bay and then was released.

The Jets already were in negotiations with Spiller, but they hadn't received a commitment when Davis became available on waivers.

Packers Release Knile Davis, Left With One Healthy RB On Roster

Nov 1, 2016 9:38 AM

The Green Bay Packers have cut Knile Davis two weeks after trading for him from the Kansas City Chiefs.

It likely means the Packers won't have to surrender the seventh-round draft pick in 2018 that was part of the trade, since it was a conditional pick.

Davis played a total of just 13 snaps for the Packers in his two games. Eight of those came at Atlanta on Sunday, when he carried three times for 4 yards.

It leaves Don Jackson, who was promoted from the practice squad on Oct. 20, as the only fully healthy running back on the roster. The Packers have used receivers like Davante Adams, Randall Cobb and Ty Montgomery out of the backfield.
