Eagles To Lose Lane Johnson For Four Games With PED Suspension

Oct 31, 2014 1:30 PM

The Philadelphia Eagles will be without Lane Johnson for the first four games of the 2014 season after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

Johnson missed just one snap in 17 games last season as a rookie right tackle.

The Eagles’ first four games are against Jacksonville (home), Indianapolis (away), Washington (home) and San Francisco (away).

The Eagles’ two best options as far as replacing Johnson for those first four games would be moving right guard Todd Herremans back out to right tackle, where he played eight games in 2012 before suffering a season-ending foot injury.

Giants Release Will Hill After Another Drug Suspension

Jul 13, 2014 5:37 AM

The New York Giants have waived Will Hill after his third drug suspension in three years.

The NFL announced Friday that Hill would be suspended for the first six games of the 2014 season due to his latest violation of the league's substance abuse policy. Hill also missed the first four games of the 2013 season and four games during the 2012 season for drug violations.

Hill emerged as a productive safety last season after his suspension and was slated to start alongside Antrel Rolle.

Hill was a standout at the University of Florida, but he went undrafted as a result of off-field concerns. The Giants knew of those risks when they signed Hill as an undrafted free agent.

Cardinals Not Cutting Daryl Washington Yet

Jul 2, 2014 5:31 AM

The Arizona Cardinals seem prepared to challenge Daryl Washington's right to some of the $10 million option bonus they recently activated.

Washington has been suspended for the 2014 season for another violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy.

A source within the organization told ESPN that none of that money has actually been paid to Washington and conceded that one of the reasons the team won't consider releasing him is because it might no longer be entitled to keep a portion of that money.

Washington's suspension will cost the Cardinals linebacker $6.5 million between now and December in forfeited bonus and salary.

He was suspended for four games last season as well.
