The NFL has suspended linebacker Odell Thurman indefinitely, according to ESPN.com's John Clayton.
Thurman will miss his third consecutive season for violations of the NFL's Substance Abuse Policy. The league sent official notification to NFL teams Friday afternoon that Thurman will be suspended for the entire 2008 season.
He is a free agent after being released by the Bengals.
"He will not be considered for reinstatement until after the 2008 season," a league spokesman said.

Former Bengals' linebacker Odell Thurman is facing an indefinite suspension after violating the NFL's substance abuse policy for the second time in three seasons, according to a report on SI.com.
Thurman's representative Safarrah Lawson said he was unaware of the situation when contacted by ESPN.com on Monday night. Thurman was released by the Bengals on May 19.
NFL Grants 'Pacman' Limited Reinstatement
Adam ?Pacman? Jones has been granted a partial reinstatement from his suspension, the NFL announced Monday, according to a Yahoo.com Sports report.
A member of the Cowboys, Jones will be allowed to participate in organized team activities, training camp, and preseason games.
Commissioner Roger Goodell told Jones that a final determination regarding his reinstatement for regular-season play will be made by September 1.
