Chiefs' running back Larry Johnson has been suspended one game by the NFL without pay for violating the league's personal conduct policy.
The league admitted Friday the suspension probably would have been longer had Kansas City not deactivated Johnson for the last two games and for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay.
"It was factored into the decision," NFL senior vice president of public relations Greg Aiello said.
