Titans Fans Start Ad Pitch To Woo Peyton

May 17, 2014 10:50 PM

The Colts still employ Peyton Manning, but a number of other teams are hoping to get a chance to add the quarterback to their roster. Some Titans fans are expecting the NFL's only four-time MVP to be released and they have started an ad campaign in Indianapolis hoping to convince Manning to return to Tennessee. "It's kind of evident to the sports world they're going to let Peyton go, they're not going to pay him the money that he's due and he's going to be a free agent," Todd Mayo said. "All the sports talk guys are saying he could go to Arizona and Washington and every place but Tennessee. We've got a young quarterback here at the Titans. "If you could upgrade your team with the caliber of Peyton, why would you not?" Mayo said he and his brother, Griffin, spent the weekend designing the website "www.comehomepeyton.com" and recorded a couple parody songs, including one to the Eminem hit "Lose Yourself." The site went live Monday and had generated $700 in donations by midday. A 30-second commercial is planned for an Indianapolis radio station during the Super Bowl.

Titans Sign Craig Stevens To Four-Year Deal

Sep 24, 2014 1:54 PM

The Titans have signed tight end Craig Stevens to a new four-year contract. Agent Kenneth Zuckerman said Friday that the four-year deal is the first since the NFL season ended taking advantage of the new labor deal rewarding veterans hitting free agency for production over rookies. "Obviously by the terms and the deal, he saw how valuable he was to that team and how important he was," Zuckerman said. "He's real excited to get this behind him and start to prove to everyone that he’s worth it." The 6-foot-3, 268-pound Stevens was a third-round draft pick out of California in 2008 and has 24 starts over the past two seasons.

A source close to Jeff Fisher insisted the delay in choosing between coaching jobs with the Dolphins and Rams is not a leverage play and that neither side has yet to make an offer. Fisher is making sure he has an ideal situation to step into before agreeing to coach one of the teams, the source said. "This is not about money," the source said. "This is not about negotiating. This is about winning."

Titans Will Let Hasselbeck, Locker Compete

Sep 24, 2014 1:49 PM

The Titans will allow Matt Hasselbeck and Jake Locker to compete for the team's starting quarterback job in camp next summer. "It wouldn't be fair to tell Jake Locker he wouldn't have an opportunity to play next year, that he was going to sit for another season," coach Mike Munchak said. "I don't think Matt would want to hear that either. I think they are both competitive in that way. I think when the time comes, just like it was this past year, that Matt was the guy that was most ready to help us win, I think the same decision will be made next year. "And I think that it will be an obvious decision to us who should start." Hasselbeck played well in his first season with Tennessee, but Locker also performed well in spot duty.

Chris Johnson Will Remain With Titans

Oct 16, 2014 10:53 PM

The Titans aren't going to trade or release Chris Johnson this offseason. Tennessee coach Mike Munchak said there is no question that Johnson will remain on the team's roster. After a slow start to the season, Johnson finished with 1,047 yards and four touchdowns. He had one 100-yard performance in his first eight games, but enjoyed three such efforts in his final eight contests.
