Titans Expanding Offensive Scheme

Oct 23, 2014 8:20 AM

In his second year as Tennessee's offensive coordinator, Chris Palmer is expanding the team's offensive system. "Coach Palmer has been in the lab and has been licking his chops," wide receiver Nate Washington said. "You can tell on his face he has some things in mind and now it is just a matter of getting on the same page. Guys are excited." Last season when the Titans posted some impressive offensive numbers, Palmer credited the players for being quick learners. Now he's asking more of them, as he expands a playbook he had to scale back last season because of the lengthy lockout.

Titans 'Optimistic' About Chris Johnson

Jul 3, 2014 7:45 PM

The Titans are optimistic about Chris Johnson rebounding from a disappointing 2011 season. Johnson's holdout last summer helped contribute to a very slow start to the season. His 1,047 yards and 4.0 yards per carry were the lowest totals of his four-year career and caused many people to question the wisdom of the big deal the Titans handed Johnson. "C.J. has worked very hard," Tennessee offensive coordinator Chris Palmer said. "He is here, running hard and working hard. I'm very optimistic about how he's going to perform this (fall)."

Kenny Britt Has Knee Scoped

Jul 3, 2014 7:39 PM

Titans receiver Kenny Britt had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Wednesday, but the team said he is expected back for the season opener Sept. 9. Britt, who tore his ACL and MCL last September in a game against the Broncos, had the procedure to make him more comfortable and accelerate his return to the field. "It's almost become commonplace," Titans general manager Ruston Webster said. "It's not one of those things that was, 'Wow, we're having surgery.' It's very common, and if it helps his rehab process, it's well worth doing. Our goal is to have him play this year. You don't want to get into the middle of camp and (need to have surgery)."

Britt Might Need Second Knee Procedure

Sep 7, 2014 8:36 PM

Titans coach Mike Munchak acknowledged on Sunday that Kenny Britt might require a second procedure on his knee. The wide receiver tore the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his right knee in the third game of the 2011 season. "I think it always is (possible)," Munchak said. "I don't know if he will at some point, but I think that's something that's common with that injury. Derrick [Morgan] went through it last year." "The good thing is that even if you do have it, it's not a huge setback. It's not something that sets you way back. But that is obviously part of the process, or could be, if that arises down the road."
