Warrick Signs With Seattle

Nov 27, 2014 2:18 PM

Wasting little time after his release by the Cincinnati Bengals one day earlier, wide receiver Peter Warrick on Wednesday afternoon signed a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks, despite avid interest from other teams. The basic contract is worth $1.4 million, which includes a $500,000 signing bonus and a base salary of $900,000. But the five-year veteran can earn an additional $880,000 -- the difference between his deal with the Seahawks and the $2.28 million base salary that he was scheduled to make in Cincinnati -- through incentives. Warrick will earn $220,000 with 30 receptions, then an additional $220,000 each for 40, 50 and 60 catches. It is also believed that Warrick will return punts for the Seahawks, who have been seeking to add another veteran wideout.

Seahawks Release DE Cochran

Sep 5, 2014 7:08 AM

The Seattle Seahawks decided to release defensive end Antonio Cochran, partly for failing to participate in the team?s offseason workout program. Cochran?s termination after six seasons with the team stemmed from factors that went beyond workouts, of course. The 29-year-old veteran stood to earn $1.5 million this season, and the team had decided to build its defense around smaller, quicker ends.

Pressure Is On For Seahawks Coach Mike Holmgren

Sep 5, 2014 7:08 AM

The sound that you hear coming out of Seattle is a clock ticking away. Everyone on the Seahawks knows they?re on borrowed time, just like they know who gets the blame for it. Mike Holmgren is getting a lot of grief for how the past two seasons have turned out, not because he did anything absolutely horrible but due to a cardinal sin he committed. He offered Seattle hope. Heading into this season, Holmgren?s name is the biggest one out on the chopping block. Having reloaded, players, coaches and fans are all trying to forget the one that got away, namely how they were one catch from a playoff win and job security for their coach. It all came down to a dropped pass, slipping out of receiver Bobby Engram?s hands. Now some new faces have been brought in, while once untouchable players have parted ways with the team. Gone is Koren Robinson, the troubled wide receiver who had loads of talent, but just couldn?t put it all together on or off the field. Also gone are linebackers Chad Brown and Orlando Huff, not to mention Ken Lucas, who went to fill a hole at cornerback for the Carolina Panthers. In their place are a mix of veterans and young talent, nobody you?d immediately recognize but some could argue an upgrade.

Koren Robinson Checks Into Rehab

Sep 5, 2014 7:08 AM

Former Seahawks wide receiver Koren Robinson has checked himself into a 30-day treatment center in South Carolina and plans to be ready for the NFL regular season as a new person. "I've realized I've got a problem," Robinson said. "I know the path I was going down wouldn't enable me to be a successful person in life and a successful football player on the field. I had to be proactive before I got too bad." Robinson's career and life have been spiraling out of control for the past eight months. Because of his drinking, he missed meetings late in the 2004 season and had to make a promise to seek alcohol treatment to stay on the active roster. That didn't work. Robinson finished the season on the active roster but was charged with a DUI on May 6 in Kirkland, Wa. After pleading guilty, he ended up receiving a 365-day jail sentence in which 364 days were suspended. When he showed up for his one-day jail sentence, alcohol was allegedly detected on his breath by two detectives, a violation of his probation from the plea bargain.
