Giants Planning To Move Forward With Daniel Jones At QB

Jan 24, 2023 8:44 AM

The New York Giants are planning to move forward with Daniel Jones at quarterback, says general manager Joe Schoen.

Jones, 25, is a free agent at the end of the season. The Giants plan to negotiate a long-term deal, but they'll have the franchise tag to use as well.

"We'd like Daniel to be here. He said it [Sunday], there is a business side to it. But we feel like Daniel played well this season. He's done everything we've asked him to. ... We would like to have Daniel Jones back," Schoen said.

Saquon Barkley Not Looking To Reset Running Back Market

Jan 22, 2023 4:17 PM

Running back Saquon Barkley is hoping for a new long-term deal from the New York Giants but isn't insistent on topping Christian McCaffrey's $16 million per year salary.

Barkley, 25, just played out the fifth-year option in his rookie contract and set a career high with 1,312 rushing yards while remaining healthy the entire season.

"I'm not really too concerned about resetting any [running back] markets or anything like that," he said Sunday, when the Giants cleaned out their lockers following a 38-7 loss in the division round against the Philadelphia Eagles the previous night. "I'm realistic."

NFC East Makes History With Three Teams In Divisional Round

Jan 17, 2023 8:58 AM

The NFC East has three teams in the divisional round of the playoffs with the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys all vying for a spot in the conference championship game.

The NFC East is the first division since the 2002 realignment to get three teams in the divisional round of the playoffs -- and the first division since 1997 to accomplish this feat.

The 1997 NFC Central had three teams reach the divisional round of the playoffs, but that was back when the league had six divisions of five teams.

Daniel Jones: Giants Aren't Satisfied Just Making Playoffs

Jan 12, 2023 8:53 AM

Daniel Jones says the New York Giants aren't satisfied simply making the playoffs.

After five-straight seasons with at least 10 losses, the Giants went 9-7-1 in their first year under Brian Daboll.

"I think we're definitely not satisfied just to have made the playoffs," Jones said.

"That's not how we see it as a group. We were confident in our team dating back to training camp and knew what we were able to accomplish. We're by no means satisfied just to be in the playoffs. We expect to play well and to win. And that's our expectation every week; that doesn't change this week."

Jeff Saturday: Kayvon Thibodeaux's Snow Angel Celebration 'Trash'

Jan 3, 2023 8:45 AM

Jeff Saturday strongly criticized Kayvon Thibodeaux after the New York Giants rookie's snow angel sack celebration while Nick Foles lay on the field injured Sunday.

Foles was injured in the second quarter of the Giants' 38-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts at MetLife Stadium when Thibodeaux delivered a blindside hit that caused Foles to land on the ball with the defensive end landing on top of him.

As Foles lay on the turf writhing in pain, Thibodeaux launched into a lengthy celebration.

"Tasteless from the celebration afterward," Saturday said. "Just trash. Not a fan of it at all."

Thibodeaux said after the game he didn't realize Foles was injured at the time, saying, "After a sack, you celebrate ... I think when I did realize he was hurt, that's when we started getting up. When you are doing the celebration, you are not looking to see who is doing what. I hope he gets well and I hope he is all right."
