Peyton, Colts Look More Like Themselves In Win Over Falcons

Oct 18, 2014 2:05 AM

Peyton Manning and the Colts are still trying to recapture their Super Bowl-winning groove. But they sure looked a whole lot more like themselves Thursday night. All it took was a trip to Atlanta. Manning threw three touchdown passes, Anthony Gonzalez had 105 yards receiving and the defending champs, after getting stunned with 10 quick points by the Falcons, rebounded for a 31-13 victory.

Colts' Harrison Misses Thursday's Game

Oct 31, 2014 5:55 PM

Although team officials said this week that Marvin Harrison is making progress in his rehabilitation from a knee injury that has plagued him for nearly two months, the Indianapolis Colts' wide receiver will not play in the Thursday night game here against the Atlanta Falcons. Harrison, in fact, did not even make the trip on the team's Wednesday afternoon charter. This will mark the sixth game that the eight-time Pro Bowler has missed in 2007. Before this season, the 12-year veteran had missed only six games total in his career with never more than four in a season.

Vinatieri's FG Pushes Colts Past Chiefs

Jun 10, 2014 8:53 AM

Adam Vinatieri eventually found redemption Sunday. Booed by the Indianapolis crowd after missing his first two field goals against Kansas City and the subject of criticism all week after missing a chip shot that would have beaten San Diego a week earlier, the NFL's best clutch kicker showed everyone how he earned his title. Vinatieri made a 24-yard field goal with 4 seconds left Sunday, giving the Colts a badly needed 13-10 victory over the Chiefs. The win ended Indy's two-game losing streak and kept the Colts (8-2) atop the AFC South.

Colts Adjust To Lengthy Injury List

Jul 16, 2014 2:38 PM

A lengthy injury list is forcing the Colts to improvise in practice. With as many as 14 players either sidelined or seeing limited work this week, the coaching staff has shuffled healthy players to new positions, practiced with limited hitting and, in some cases, without pads. Still, as the Colts prepare for Sunday's game against Kansas City, coach Tony Dungy said Friday the team has adjusted well.

Colts' Clark Will Play, Harrison Questionable

Aug 26, 2014 6:29 PM

The Colts didn't dress nine players for last Sunday's game against the Chargers, and they probably will have about seven players out for this week's game against the Chiefs. Most likely to miss the game are wide receiver Marvin Harrison (knee), wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez (thumb), cornerback Dante Hughes (shoulder), cornerback Matt Giordano (hamstring), tackle Dan Federkill (concussion), linebacker Tyjuan Hagler (neck) and cornerback Tim Jennings (upper leg). They are all listed as questionable. Tight end Dallas Clark practiced all week and has been cleared to play despite a concussion. Linebacker Freddie Keiaho, who is not on the injury list, should be back after missing games with a concussion.

Colts' Lose Freeney For Rest Of Season

Jun 3, 2014 4:32 AM

The latest injury might be the most damaging to the Indianapolis Colts, who apparently have lost Dwight Freeney for the rest of the season. The three-time Pro Bowl defensive end probably faces surgery to repair damage to his left foot, according to a source close to Freeney. The Colts have made no announcement on the nature of the injury, which occurred during the fourth quarter of Sunday night's loss at San Diego. Team president Bill Polian indicated on his Monday evening radio show that Freeney could miss at least a month. Surgery, however, would end Freeney's season.

Sources: Freeney's Season Could Be Over

Nov 24, 2014 9:40 PM

The Indianapolis Colts already expect Dwight Freeney not to play for several weeks because of a left foot injury, but now there's reason to believe the Pro Bowl defensive end's season might be over. Though more tests have to be completed for the team to make a final determination, a source said Tuesday that Freeney might have suffered a Lisfranc injury in Sunday's loss to the San Diego Chargers. If additional tests verify the initial diagnosis of the midfoot injury, the source said Freeney will need season-ending surgery. Players who have suffered Lisfranc injuries, even those not needing surgical repair, have needed months to rehabilitate.

LJ Ruled Out For Colts' Game

Oct 18, 2014 5:53 PM

The swelling in Larry Johnson's injured right foot is subsiding, though not enough for the Kansas City Chiefs' running back to play this week against the Indianapolis Colts. Johnson, who rushed for more than 1,750 yards each of the past two years, was injured in the fourth quarter of Kansas City's 33-22 loss to Green Bay in Week 9. "The swelling continues to decrease in Larry Johnson's injured right foot. He is continuing to receive rehab treatments twice a day," Chiefs' President and GM Carl Peterson said in a statement Tuesday. Peterson said Johnson will see a foot specialist on Nov. 19. "His playing status for this Sunday's game in Indianapolis has been determined as out," Peterson said.
