The Detroit Lions have used their franchise tag on Ezekiel Ansah.

Ansah has dealt with injury issues over the past two seasons but still appeared in 27 games.

Ansah admitted late in the season he had "been dealing with a lot all year." He had ankle, shoulder and back injuries throughout 2017.

The franchise tag for a defensive end was $16.9 million in 2017, and it is expected to be approximately $17.5 million for the upcoming season.

Lions Sign Bob Quinn To Contract Extension

Feb 9, 2018 4:39 PM

The Detroit Lions have signed Bob Quinn to a contract extension.

Quinn's deal now runs through 2022 alongside Matt Patricia.

"The contract extension for Bob is most deserving as he continues to lead and improve our football team," Detroit president Rod Wood said in a statement released Friday by the Lions. "It is also important for our entire organization to ensure stability as we move forward with Matt as our new Head Coach working in partnership with Bob. Moreover, I greatly enjoy my relationship and partnership with Bob. We both look forward to a bright future for the Detroit Lions."

Quinn was hired as general manager after the 2015 season.
