Ameer Abdullah Underwent Labrum Surgery In January

May 27, 2016 10:59 AM

Ameer Abdullah underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder in January.

The Detroit Lions expect him back by the start of training camp.

Jim Caldwell confirmed Abdullah had surgery but declined to give specifics, including whether Abdullah was playing with the injury the entire season.

He also said "we'll see" when he expects Abdullah to return.

"He's recovering nicely," Caldwell said.

Abdullah was a second round pick in 2015 and led the Lions in rushing yards with 597.

DeAndre Levy Progressing From Hip Surgery

May 9, 2016 11:24 AM

DeAndre Levy played just 17 snaps in 2015 for the Detroit Lions and underwent offseason hip surgery.

The Lions' defense regressed with Ndamukong Suh leaving in free agency, as well as Levy's injury.

Levy's recovery has been going well.

"He's been looking really good," Tahir Whitehead said, via the Detroit Free Press. "I know the type of guy Lev is. I know he missed the game last year and he was going to work and get back, and what we've seen the last couple weeks is exactly that. He's worked to get back on the field with us."
