Lions Cut Reggie Bush

Feb 25, 2015 6:31 PM

The Detroit Lions have released Reggie Bush.

Bush signed a four-year deal with the Lions in 2013, but couldn't stay healthy in 2014.

Bush played in 11 games last season with only 76 carries for 297 yards and two touchdowns.

The move saves the Lions $1.7 million in cap room for 2015.

Lions Comfortable With Calvin Johnson's $20.55M 2015 Cap Number

Feb 24, 2015 2:04 PM

The Detroit Lions are fine with Calvin Johnson's cap number of $20.55 million for 2015

Johnson has previously said that he would do whatever he could to help keep Ndamukong Suh with the Lions.

“When we have a guy like that that’s one of your highest paid guys, but he’s a great teammate, great in the community and he works the way that he works, that’s what you want,” Martin Mayhew said, via the team’s website. “You have other guys in the locker room who aspire to be like him. They say they want to get paid what he gets paid, they better be bringing to the table that he brings to the table.”

Lions Optimistic On Odds Of Re-Signing Ndamukong Suh

Feb 18, 2015 9:43 PM

The Detroit Lions remain hopeful of being able to re-sign Ndamukong Suh.

"It's not done," the Detroit Lions general manager said Wednesday from the NFL Scouting Combine. "(We're) still working on it. Still very optimistic we'll be able to get it done."

Mayhew would not provide a timetable but said he'd like to get a contract negotiated with Suh before free agency begins on March 10.

"Priority No. 1 is getting a deal done with him," he said. "So that's what we're focused on right now is trying to get something done with him. We'll cross the other bridges of other players whenever we get to those."

The Lions believe Suh wants to remain with the Lions.

Lions Undecided On Using Franchise Tag For Ndamukong Suh

Feb 17, 2015 10:29 AM

The Detroit Lions remain unsure if they will use the franchise tag on Ndamukong Suh.

Suh is a free agent and the franchise tag would result in a $26.87 million salary.

If no deal can be reached by March 7 and Suh is not tagged, he would become a free agent on March 10.

Brees: Lions' Offense Ran 95 Percent Of Saints' Plays

Feb 6, 2015 1:11 PM

The Detroit Lions ran nearly all of the same plays last season under Joe Lombardi as what the New Orleans Saints would run.

"Listen, you could watch a Detroit game from this year in front of me right now, I could call 95 percent of the plays," Drew Brees said last week in Arizona. "Absolutely. Probably 70 percent of them before you even hit the play button. Just by looking at the formation, 'All right, it's this.'"

Lombardi spent seven seasons with the Saints before joining the Lions' staff.
