The Detroit Lions are meeting with Marqise Lee, the seventh team to meet with the USC receiver.

The Lions own the highest pick at No. 10 that Lee has met with.

Lee also has visited with the Baltimore Ravens (17th pick), New York Jets (18th pick), Miami Dolphins (19th pick), New Orleans Saints (27th pick), Carolina Panthers (28th pick) and New England Patriots (29th pick).

The Detroit Lions have gauged trade interest in Ndamukong Suh, according to sources.

Teams believe the Lions are simply exploring their options if their contract talks with Suh fall apart completely.

"What the Lions are doing is standard operating procedure," one team executive said. "Just in case they don't think they can sign him, they're preparing for worst case. It's smart."

The 2014 NFL schedule will begin with the Green Bay Packers playing at the Seattle Seahawks in a Thursday night game in Week 1.

The Sunday night game in Week 1 will feature the Indianapolis Colts at the Denver Broncos.

The Seahawks will play at the San Francisco 49ers in the Week 13/Thanksgiving night game. The two teams meet again in Week 15 on Dec. 14.

The Detroit Lions are looking to trade up to draft Sammy Watkins.

General manager Martin Mayhew and coach Jim Caldwell had dinner with him the night before his pro day last month.

The Lions brought in Watkins in for a pre-draft visit on Tuesday.

Caldwell called Watkins “a quality person” and said “there's not much to dislike about this young man.”

“We had an opportunity to visit with his mother and father, so I think you get a pretty good feel,” Caldwell said. “And one of the things I've always learned from my days back in college is I've always loved to watch the interaction between the individual and his parents. You know that old scripture in the Bible, honor thy mother and father. Well, typically you can tell what kind of man it is … when you watch the people that they are closest to and hold dearest to their heart and how they treat them.”

The Detroit Lions have signed Cassius Vaughn to a one-year deal.

Vaughn went undrafted in 2010 out of Ole Miss and has played for the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts.

Vaughn intercepted three passes last season at cornerback despite playing fewer than half the Colts' defensive snaps.
