McGinest Upset With Seau Wearing 55

Oct 23, 2014 2:35 AM

Junior Seau will wear number 55 with the New England Patriots, something that Willie McGinest considers insulting. "If they say I'm somebody who embodied what they represented in the past and helped them win championships and so forth, I think that should have been a situation where ownership should have taken charge," McGinest said. "The organization should have stepped up (and set the number aside). They didn't, so that's just another indication they were making another, quote-unquote, business move."

Suggs Fails Physical, Going Back To Cleveland

May 21, 2014 3:12 PM

Running back Lee Suggs failed his physical with the New York Jets, voiding his trade from Cleveland. Suggs, who has had a myriad of injuries throughout his four-year career, was brought in to help bolster the group of backs struggling without the injured Curtis Martin. Now, he is headed back to the Browns. Cornerback Derrick Strait, who was sent to Cleveland in the deal, returns to New York. "We have a whole series of tests that we do, and we were very thorough with the process," Jets coach Eric Mangini said. "He just didn't pass those tests. ... Each team has a criteria they set up that they believe is what's important and what's needed to be competitive. I'm very comfortable with the tests we have set up."

Jets Preparing For Life Without Martin; Trade For Browns' Suggs

Sep 19, 2014 12:47 AM

The Jets finally realized they have to start thinking about life without Curtis Martin. While the No. 4 all-time leading rusher rehabs his injured right knee, the Jets acquired Lee Suggs from the Browns on Monday for defensive back Derrick Strait. Browns' Veteran C Bob Hallen Will Retire Friday

Jul 12, 2014 2:59 PM

Veteran center Bob Hallen, thrust into Cleveland's starting lineup to replace injured Pro Bowler LeCharles Bentley, will announce his retirement on Friday because of a back injury. "The possibility of him coming back is pretty much eliminated because he is in the process of faxing a retirement letter," Browns coach Romeo Crennel said after Cleveland's 20-7 preseason loss to Philadelphia on Thursday night. "He has decided to move on and that's what we're going to do."

McNabb Outshines Winslows' Browns, 20-7

Sep 19, 2014 12:46 AM

Kellen Winslow made some blocks, caught a couple passes and took a few hits. Playing his first game in nearly two years, the Browns tight end made two catches in Cleveland's 20-7 preseason loss to Philadelphia on Thursday night. "It was really good to get back out there," said Winslow, whose career was stalled by an in-game leg injury and a motorcycle accident. "I just wanted to get tackled to get some confidence back." Donovan McNabb looked sharp for the second straight game, and Jeff Garcia connected with Darnerien McCants on a 32-yard touchdown pass for the Eagles (1-1).
