Arizona Ends Leinart's Wait

Oct 11, 2014 5:19 AM

Matt Leinart's wait came to an end when the Cardinals selected him with the 10th pick. Leinart likely would have been the overall top pick in the 2005 Draft, but decided to return to Southern Cal for his senior season. While Leinart certainly lost a great deal of money by not coming out last year with his stock falling this year, he will have a host of weapons in Arizona. Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin are two of the best young wide receivers in the game and they gave their offense an even bigger boost by signing Edgerrin James this March. Heading into Saturday's draft, many believed that the Titans would select Leinart, which would reunite the QB with his former offensive coordinator at USC, Norm Chow. Leinart will be staying in Pac-10 country and will begin the season behind Kurt Warner on the depth chart, a former Super Bowl winner who is on his last run as an NFL quarterback.

Cardinals Still Have Interest In Hakim

Oct 11, 2014 5:19 AM

Cardinals vice president of football operations Rod Graves said Friday that while the team does have interest in free agent receiver and return man Az-Zahir Hakim, ?nothing is imminent.? ?Discussions are ongoing,? Graves said. Graves and the rest of the Cardinals? brain trust have been heavily involved in draft preparation. With the draft just two weeks away, the team may choose to see what rookies it gets before committing too much to a veteran like Hakim. Hakim?s agent, Chuck Price, said due to the holiday weekend and the draft, negotiations have thus far produced little.

Cardinals Could Be In The Hunt For Collins

Oct 11, 2014 5:19 AM

Former Raiders quarterback Kerry Collins reportedly is drawing interest from Baltimore but could land a job in Arizona, where he would compete with Kurt Warner. A two-time NFL Most Valuable Player, Warner won the starting quarterback job last year from Josh McCown, who recently signed with Detroit. "Kerry has been a good starter in this league," said Cardinals coach Dennis Green, "and is somebody we might look at it, but it hasn't gone any further than that."
