Chris Johnson Not Impressed By Shonn Greene Signing

Oct 31, 2014 6:13 AM

Chris Johnson lobbied for the Tennessee Titans to improve their roster this offseason and has been pleased with all but one of the moves.

“We’ve been doing pretty good in free agency,” Johnson said. “It looks like we’re getting some good players, and I see they are trying to get the offensive line right. I am pretty happy.”

Johnson, however, was not impressed by the Titans' decision to sign Shonn Greene to a three-year, $10 million deal.

“I have never been a big fan of the two-back system, so I don’t know how we plan on using him,” Johnson said casually. “I’m not afraid of competition, but I was thinking we’d maybe get a draft pick for the other back. And you don’t give a guy that kind of money to be just a goal-line guy and in tough-yardage situations. So we’ll see what happens.”

Johnson will make $10 million this season and averaged 17.25 carries per game in 2012.

“I’ll just roll with it. Of course I don’t want to carry the ball 30 or 40 times a game,” said Johnson.

“And I don’t mind a guy getting a carry or two. But if I am the main guy and it is supposed to be my team … it shouldn’t be an issue.”
