Carroll Unlikely To Reunite With Leinart?

Sep 12, 2014 9:22 PM

Despite rumors to the contrary it appears unlikely that Seahawks coach Pete Carroll will reunite with former USC quarterback Matt Leinart. "It just doesn't seem like a good fit," one team insider said. "If anything, when you look at what happened to LenDale White and Lawrence Jackson, you have to wonder about just how much stock Carroll puts in USC connections."

Leinart, Carroll Reunion In Seattle Won't Solve QB Issues

Jul 2, 2014 1:25 AM

Michael Lombardi of NFL.com doesn't think that reuniting Matt Leinart and Pete Carroll, both formerly of USC, will solve Seattle's quarterback issues. "Leinart's poor work habits were legendary when he was first with the Cardinals. Once he matured and stayed away from the hot tub, his main problem went from work ethic to his overall physical skills to play the position," Lombardi writes. "He became the king of the check down in Arizona, refusing to hold the ball, not being able to process quickly or deliver the ball in a timely fashion. He was often wild high and just plain wild."

Hasselbeck, Seahawks Have Discussed Return

May 16, 2014 11:25 PM

Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell called quarterback Matt Hasselbeck when the lockout was briefly lifted last month and expressed to him how much the team wanted him to return, according to a source. Hasselbeck is said to be open to the idea of returning to Seattle. One source said Hasselbeck now is "as likely to return there as he ever was." After Hasselbeck and the Seahawks were unable to agree on a contract last winter and up until now, there were questions about whether the free agent quarterback would be back in Seattle.

GM: Seattle Debated Drafting Dalton At No. 25

Oct 15, 2014 11:53 PM

The Seahawks were torn between drafting an offensive tackle or a quarterback with the 25th overall pick in last week's NFL Draft. They opted to take Alabama tackle James Carpenter, leaving TCU quarterback Andy Dalton on the board for the Bengals to grab 10 picks later. "We debated with Andy Dalton, there's no question about it," Seahawks general manager John Schneider said. "But I think we all felt like we were at a point in our development where we couldn't pass on a starting tackle right now." The Seahawks won the NFC West in 2010 despite an offensive line that featured numerous in-season changes. "Quite honestly, we'd like to have a guy, especially a rookie (quarterback), be more of a developmental type and a guy more like Aaron Rodgers and sit for a year or two," said Schneider, who added that he believes Dalton could play right away. "So that was really the only point in the draft where there was a guy where we were like, 'There he is, that's a very viable option.' Quite honestly, we just had guys throughout the board that just didn't make sense as we went down comparing them to other positions."

Cardinals, Seahawks Most Likely To Land Kolb

Sep 14, 2014 12:13 AM

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cardinals and Seahawks are the most likely teams to land Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb via trade. Schefter said on NFL Live on Tuesday that both teams discussed a trade after last season, as did the Bengals and 49ers. Arizona and Seattle passed on drafting quarterbacks last week, while Cincinnati and San Francisco grabbed one. "I think that when the lockout is lifted, there's no doubt that the Philadelphia Eagles are going to trade Kevin Kolb," Schefter said. "I think at this point in time, it's fairly certain that he's going to wind up in the NFC West. Right now, all signs point to Kevin Kolb somehow finding his way to Arizona, which would make Larry Fitzgerald very happy, which would make the Cardinals an instant contender in the NFC West, and it would make them the team that they were a couple of years ago when Kurt Warner was playing quarterback, rather than last year when they had the quarterback carousel. "Kevin Kolb is going to get dealt from Philadelphia, most likely going to be to the NFC West, and right now all signs point to Arizona."
