Raiders legend Ken Stabler doesn't feel as though owner Al Davis is slipping. "He's just as sharp as he's always been," said Stabler. "You want to come out and offer any kind of support you can, so I made the first move. ... I came out of there feeling really good, feeling good about the team."

JaMarcus To Host Passing Minicamp

Jun 9, 2014 1:13 AM

Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell plans to host his own passing minicamp prior to the start of training camp. "I talked to coach (Tom Cable) about it," Russell said. "Sometimes they have the rookies come back here for a week, and instead of them coming back here, I decided we'll do it on our own. ... Get somewhere where nobody knows where you're at and go and do your own thing." Russell was then asked who would be invited to the camp. "Everybody that plays receiver and wears the (Raiders') uniform," he fired back.

Raiders Sign Greg Ellis

Jun 9, 2014 1:13 AM

The Raiders have signed former Cowboy linebacker Greg Eliis, presumably to shift the 3-4 outside linebacker to a 4-3 defensive end, according to Calvin Watkins at AOL Fanhouse. A Pro Bowl alternate in 2007, he was the league's comeback player of the year after returning from a torn Achilles' heel to record 12.5 sacks. He moved from defensive end to linebacker in 2006.

Ex-Raider Says He's Reason For Super Bowl Loss

Dec 10, 2014 3:31 PM

Former Raiders center Barrett Robbins believes that he is the reason that the team lost Super Bowl XXXVII to the Buccaneers. Robbins disappeared two days before the big game, and Oakland lost 48-21 to Tampa Bay. "It's a hard thing to look back on because it was such a hard thing to overcome," Robbins said in an interview with Fox 26 in Houston. "It was such a hard thing to forgive myself for. As much as you want to do it, forgive yourself that is, it's the hardest thing in the world to do. "I felt that if I had played that game, we had a lot better chance to win. I felt we would have been able to win that game. It was an extremely exhausting event and put me down as far as I probably ever had to go at that point in my life." Robbins is in a halfway house following court-mandated drug rehabilitation.

JaMarcus Excellent In Red Zone On Wednesday

Oct 30, 2014 1:44 AM

With one laser after another, JaMarcus Russell laid aside his accuracy woes with the best red-zone drills of his offseason. He threw touchdown passes on four consecutive plays and got high-fives all around in workouts in Alameda. "You might retard a young guy by trying to be too cautious so let's rip it right now as you learn how to do this," Raiders coach Tom Cable said. "It's good to see him turn it loose and find out who can make those plays." "We can run the ball all day," Russell said. "Once you get inside the 20, we're going to take shots at the end zone. That's what we were lacking. We'd get down there sometimes and try to run the ball all three downs and had to kick a field goal. "If you don't take a chance at the end zone, how are you going to get there?"

Cable Impressed With Heyward-Bey's Learning Curve

Oct 10, 2014 4:26 PM

Darrius Heyward-Bey's strained right hamstring has kept him from participating in drills. "His learning is good," coach Tom Cable said of Heyward-Bey. "He's a very bright guy, but that doesn't ever account for the reps that are needed to work." Heyward-Bey said he was running at 95 percent last week. "You want to be out there with the quarterback all the time," he said. "But you got to understand, we got two more weeks of OTAs, we got training camp, we got preseason. It's a lot of time, but you don't want to be too relaxed. "But I'm getting my mental reps, and a lot of the older guys are helping me out, so I'm right on time."
