Raiders' Gibson Goes Onto IR

Sep 25, 2014 3:49 PM

Raiders safety Derrick Gibson was placed on injured reserve Friday, five days after dislocating his left wrist. Gibson was injured early in Oakland's 38-17 victory over Buffalo. The fifth-year pro from Florida State underwent surgery Monday to place pins in his wrist. Oakland signed linebacker Isaiah Ekejiuba from the practice squad to take Gibson's roster spot. Jarrod Cooper, Stanford Routt and Chris Carr all will help fill Gibson's absence on Sunday at Tennessee. Gibson's promising career repeatedly has been derailed by injuries. He missed all of the 2004 season on injured reserve after he dislocated his shoulder in the final preseason game.

Raiders Guard Has Emergency Surgery For Hemorrahage

Sep 25, 2014 3:49 PM

Oakland Raiders starting left guard Langston Walker had emergency surgery to repair a hemorrhage in his stomach. Walker complained of pain in his abdominal area Tuesday, then the team's training staff quickly got him to a doctor. The 6-foot-8, 345-pound lineman had an arthroscopic procedure later in the day and is expected to be sidelined a minimum of six weeks. ``From what I understand, it could be considerably longer,'' coach Norv Turner said after practice Wednesday. ``It's a serious deal. He is OK. That's the No. 1 concern. It's just unfortunate for our football team. But he's very fortunate that he's all right and that they found it when they did so that it didn't become major.''

Randy Moss Doubtful Against Bills

Sep 25, 2014 3:49 PM

Oakland?s star receiver Randy Moss is doubtful for Sunday?s game against the Bills after suffering bruised ribs and a strained groin versus the Chargers last Sunday. He didn't practice in the afternoon session. While walking slowly to his car afterward, Moss said he was feeling "OK." "We'll know Sunday," Moss said of whether he will be ready to go against the Bills. Coach Norv Turner wasn't ready to rule out his star receiver. "We'll see each day. If he recovers and can run full speed, we'd love to have him," said Turner, after spending several minutes after practice talking to 76-year-old owner Al Davis, who was wearing his signature shiny white sweatsuit and using a walker to get around.

Moss? Status Remains Uncertain

Sep 25, 2014 3:49 PM

Raiders? star receiver Randy Moss missed most of Sunday?s game after sustaining bruised ribs and a strained groin as a result of a hard fall while going up for a catch. Moss? status will be known after Wednesday?s practice. "You definitely want to have him on the field on Sunday," running back LaMont Jordan said Monday. "And his presence will still be felt. But I look at the offseason, they brought Randy and myself in and it's my job to help carry this offense. Actually, I hope for the rest of the season that's what Norv does -- put the offense on my shoulders and let's go."

Moss Injures Groin In First Quarter

Oct 1, 2014 6:39 PM

Receiver Randy Moss injured his groin in Sunday's game against San Diego when he crashed hard to the ground after trying to make a leaping catch. Moss was hurt late in the first quarter when Kerry Collins underthrew him on a deep pass. Moss leaped in between Bhawoh Jue and Sammy Davis before falling awkwardly to the ground. He was attended to by trainers and limped off the field. After sitting out three plays, Moss returned to the field for LaMont Jordan's 4-yard touchdown run. He then sat out the rest of the opening half as trainers worked on stretching his legs. The Raiders said Moss' return was questionable.

Oakland Raiders? wide receiver Randy Moss is facing a re-entry into the NFL drug program after Moss told HBO Sports last month that he has occasionally smoked marijuana. "I have used, you know, marijuana ... since I've been in the league," Moss said. "But as far as abusing it and, you know, letting it take control over me, I don't do that, no." The NFL's medical director, Dr. Rick Spodafora, called Moss in for testing on the grounds that through his words, Moss has indicated that he has resumed his drug-related behavior to which Moss has refused to cooperate.

Raiders' Jake Grove Undergoes Arthroscopic Surgery

Oct 1, 2014 6:32 PM

Oakland Raiders center Jake Grove underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Monday and will likely miss three to four weeks. Grove tore cartilage in his knee in the third quarter of Sunday's 19-13 win against Dallas. With Oakland (1-3) having a bye this weekend, Grove might only miss a couple of games. He will be replaced by Adam Treu, who finished the game against the Cowboys. ``Adam brings a lot more experience,'' coach Norv Turner said Monday. ``I think some of the things that at times have gotten to us, some of the calls in terms of protection and all that, Adam's a lot more comfortable with.''
