The New York Giants have hired Angela Baker as a minority coaching fellow and offensive quality control coach, according to a source.

Giants Hire Wink Martindale As Defensive Coordinator

Feb 10, 2022 8:37 AM

The New York Giants will hire Don "Wink" Martindale as defensive coordinator.

Martindale was surprisingly fired by the Baltimore Ravens this offseason after 10 years with the team.

Martindale replaces Patrick Graham, who surprisingly left New York for a similar role with the Las Vegas Raiders last week. The Giants were expected to keep Graham under Brian Daboll. Graham was also a head coaching candidate during this cycle.

Giants Deny Brian Flores' Allegations, Lay Out Timeline

Feb 6, 2022 11:10 PM

The New York Giants have strongly denied any wrongdoing in their interview process with Brian Flores and called allegations against them disturbing and simply false.

The Giants laid out a timeline of events as a key contention that Flores' interview was not a "sham," which he contended in his lawsuit against the team and league earlier this week.

The team was also adamant that Bill Belichick was providing his opinion and was not told of a decision that the text messages behind him and Flores contend were made before Brian Daboll had his in-person interview with the club.

"The allegation that the Giants' decision had been made prior to Friday evening, January 28, is false," the Giants said in the lengthy statement. "And to base that allegation on a text exchange with Bill Belichick in which he ultimately states that he "thinks" Brian Daboll would get the job is irresponsible. The text exchange occurred the day before Coach Daboll's in-person interview even took place. Giants' ownership would never hire a head coach based only on a 20-minute zoom interview, which is all that Mr. Daboll had at that point.

"In addition, Mr. Belichick does not speak for and has no affiliation with the Giants. Mr. Belichick's text exchange provides no insight into what actually transpired during our head coaching search."

Giants To Hire Mike Kafka As Offensive Coordinator

Feb 3, 2022 3:47 PM

The New York Giants will hire Mike Kafka from the Kansas City Chiefs as offensive coordinator under Brian Daboll.

Kafka was the Chiefs' quarterbacks coach/pass game coordinator the past two seasons. He has been an assistant under Andy Reid in Kansas City since 2017.

Daboll now has his coordinators set with Patrick Graham expected to run the defense, Thomas McGaughey the special teams and Kafka the offense.

Kafka, 34, was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles and Reid in the fourth round out of Northwestern in the 2010 NFL draft.

Brian Flores Sues NFL, Three Teams, Alleging Racism In Hiring

Feb 2, 2022 9:31 PM

Brian Flores has sued the NFL and three of its teams, alleging racist hiring practices by the league have left it racially segregated and managed like a plantation.

The lawsuit filed in Manhattan federal court sought class-action status and unspecified damages from the league, the Miami Dolphins, the Denver Broncos and the New York Giants, along with unidentified individuals.

Flores was fired by the Dolphins this offseason in what was widely considered a surprising move.

"God has gifted me with a special talent to coach the game of football, but the need for change is bigger than my personal goals," Flores said in a release put out by the law firm representing him in the case. "In making the decision to file the class action complaint today, I understand that I may be risking coaching the game that I love and that has done so much for my family and me. My sincere hope is that by standing up against systemic racism in the NFL, others will join me to ensure that positive change is made for generations to come.''

The lawsuit alleged that the league has discriminated against Flores and other Black coaches for racial reasons, denying them positions as head coaches, offensive and defensive coordinators and quarterbacks coaches, as well as general managers.

"In certain critical ways, the NFL is racially segregated and is managed much like a plantation,'' the lawsuit said. "Its 32 owners -- none of whom are Black -- profit substantially from the labor of NFL players, 70% of whom are Black. The owners watch the games from atop NFL stadiums in their luxury boxes, while their majority-Black workforce put their bodies on the line every Sunday, taking vicious hits and suffering debilitating injuries to their bodies and their brains while the NFL and its owners reap billions of dollars."
