Arrington Waiting On Arrington

May 17, 2014 12:04 AM

With the secondary needs addressed, Giants players were curious to see where the free-agent linebacker LaVar Arrington would sign. Arrington recently visited the Giants, and Jacksonville and Miami are also interested. "LaVar Arrington is a good football player, but we also have good football players here," said Osi Umenyiora, the Pro Bowl defensive end. "I don't think we necessarily need him, but if he wants to come here, and they want him here bad enough, they're going to get him here. You can never have enough good players. Any team he goes to, he's going to make a better football team, immediately."

Giants Fall Behind In Arrington Chase As Jaguars And Dolphins Emerge

Oct 29, 2014 3:35 AM

The Giants haven't been eliminated from the LaVar Arrington chase yet, but the race is starting to get a little crowded. The ex-Redskins linebacker is planning to visit the Jacksonville Jaguars this weekend and also will make his second visit to Miami. Arrington was supposed to be in Cincinnati yesterday, but due to a scheduling conflict, never made his visit to the Bengals. A source said he is likely to reschedule that trip because he wants to hear what their coach, Marvin Lewis, his former defensive coordinator with the Redskins, has to offer. He may detour there on his way back from Florida early next week.

Alexander's Retirement Talk Is Premature

Oct 18, 2014 8:16 PM

Former New York Giants safety Brent Alexander still wants to play in the NFL, even though the team said last week that he retired. Jim Solano, Alexander's agent, said the mix-up happened when Alexander hinted he was considering retirement after it became clear the Giants were going to release him. Giants general manager Ernie Accorsi made the announcement at the NFL combine in Indianapolis on Saturday. The team released Alexander three days later. "I think when he said he was leaning toward retirement, they assumed he was going to retire," Solano said Wednesday. "They just ran with it before he had a chance to talk to me. We're not upset about it. We're appreciative of the fact that they were good enough to make the change now, rather than have him go through offseason workouts and training camp before cutting him."
