Tiki With Dominating Performence

May 18, 2014 2:32 AM

Tiki Barber put the ultimate exclamation point on the Giants' season of turmoil with a franchise-rushing record, a dominating performance that virtually assures his career will last at least one more week. In his last regular-season game, Barber carried 23 times for 234 yards and three touchdowns Saturday night in a 34-28 victory over Washington. The win ends New York's seven-week free fall just in time for the Giants to make the postseason as a .500 team.

Strahan Won't Need Surgery

Oct 21, 2014 5:10 AM

Michael Strahan said Thursday that he is not considering retirement, will not need surgery on the Lisfranc sprain in his right foot and is eager to return next year for his 15th season with the Giants. Speaking on his weekly paid radio spot, Strahan offered a positive diagnosis of his injury after returning from seeing a foot specialist in North Carolina. Strahan said the ligaments in his foot are torn but the bones are not displaced, meaning no surgery is required. If he had to undergo an operation, Strahan, 35, said the 6- to 8-month rehabilitation would have prompted him to consider retirement. "That would have been a decision I'd have to make," Strahan said.

Strahan Placed On IR With Two Others

Sep 11, 2014 6:59 PM

Four days before the regular season finale in Washington that will likely determine their playoff fate, the Giants today placed three key players on injured reserve. Defensive end Michael Strahan, tackle Luke Petitgout and punt and kickoff returner Chad Morton were all put on I.R. and are officially out for the remainder of the season. To take their places on the roster, the Giants signed wide receiver Darius Watts, tight end Darcy Johnson from their practice squad, and running back Robert Douglas from the Houston Texans? practice squad. Strahan suffered a Lis Franc sprain in his foot on Nov. 5 against Houston. He sat out the next six games, then returned to the field in Sunday?s 30-7 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Strahan had five tackles (three solo) and knocked down a pass. But he aggravated the injury late in the game and may need surgery.

Tiki Ready To Play Final Game At Giants Stadium

Oct 21, 2014 5:15 AM

Tiki Barber has been cheered and booed and loved and hated in a 10-year run with the Giants that has included the highs of playing in a Super Bowl and the lows of competing on a couple of bad teams. Barber will walk through the tunnel at Giants Stadium one last time on Sunday in what will be the final home game of a career he is ending early to become a television personality. "I know at some point, maybe this week, it might not happen until after the New Year or the next game, that I realize I won't be doing this anymore," Barber said Thursday. "But it is not something I am scared of or regret.

Tiki Thinks Coughlin Should Be Back

Oct 21, 2014 5:14 AM

Tiki Barber has been Tom Coughlin's biggest critic, but after yesterday's 27-13 victory over the Panthers broke a four-game losing streak, he endorsed the coach's return in 2007 and insists Coughlin deserves a contract extension. The vote of confidence came from an unexpected precinct, considering Barber publicly questioned Coughlin twice over the last 11 months. But he firmly said, "I do," when asked if he thinks the Giants should bring Coughlin back. "He's done a good job," he said, standing outside the Giants' locker room. "He's been here for three years and been riddled with major, major injuries and he's held us together."
