Adam Gase: Dolphins Won't Trade Jarvis Landry

Aug 30, 2017 8:45 AM

Adam Gase is shooting down speculation that the Miami Dolphins have put Jarvis Landry on the trading block.

Michael Lombardi reported that Miami "will seriously listen to offers" for Landry. Gase said he approached the receiver personally to explain the report was false.

"I did talk to him and told him there's no chance that he's going to be traded," Gase said. "And if something that's not true comes out like that, then I'm going to deal with it. I'm going to approach the player. ... I just let him know that there's no chance I'm going to trade you."

Landry is entering the final year of his rookie contract worth $893,850 and wants a long-term extension.

Ryan Tannehill Out For 2017 With Surgery On ACL

Aug 11, 2017 10:46 PM

Ryan Tannehill will undergo reconstructive surgery on a partially torn ACL and miss the entire season.

While Tannehill could have decided to rest the knee for six to eight weeks and try to come back from the injury again, surgery was the most viable and likely option.

Tannehill initially suffered an injury to the knee in December, partially tearing the ACL. Tannehill reinjured the knee on August 3rd on a noncontact play.

Tannehill's $17.98 million salary for this year is fully guaranteed. But only $5.53 million of his $17.48 million 2018 salary is guaranteed against injury.

Jay Cutler Says Wife Swayed Him To Sign With Dolphins

Aug 8, 2017 10:50 AM

Jay Cutler went "back and forth" on whether to remain in broadcasting or sign with the Miami Dolphins, but his wife, Kristin Cavallari, ultimately convinced him to continue his playing career.

Cutler parted with the Chicago Bears in March after eight seasons, and was then hired by Fox as an analyst.

Ryan Tannehill suffered a knee injury last Thursday, creating a need for the Dolphins.

"The last four months I've been in a different mindset, getting ready for the Fox deal," Cutler said. "I was pretty good with where I was in my life; I was around the kids a lot and felt pretty content. So I went back and forth on this. My wife talked me into it more than anybody else. ... I think she got tired of me being around the house."

Jay Cutler Agrees To One-Year, $10M Deal With Dolphins

Aug 7, 2017 2:05 PM

Jay Cutler has agreed upon a one-year, $10 million deal with the Miami Dolphins. Cutler could earn an additional $3 million in incentives.

Adam Gase has played a significant role in convincing Cutler of the reasons he should play for the Dolphins. Miami also raised its salary offer to Cutler.

Cutler retired in May from the NFL to join Fox Sports as a game analyst.

The Dolphins targeted Cutler because of the likelihood that Ryan Tannehill will undergo surgery to repair stretched ligaments in his left knee.

Dolphins Fear Ryan Tannehill Will Need Season-Ending Knee Surgery

Aug 5, 2017 9:09 PM

The Miami Dolphins fear Ryan Tannehill will need season-ending surgery on his knee.

As second and third opinions await, Tannehill still could decide to rest it for six to eight weeks and try to come back from his knee injury again.

"He's done, I think," one source predicted Thursday night.

One source said Thursday that, because Tannehill did not repair his partially torn ACL during the offseason, his knee was "a ticking time bomb that was going to go off at any time."

The Dolphins have Matt Moore as Tannehill's backup and could also consider Jay Cutler and Colin Kaepernick.
