Dolphins Wanted To Sign Peyton Manning After Ryan Tannehill Injury

Jun 24, 2017 2:51 PM

The Miami Dolphins reached out to Peyton Manning immediately after Ryan Tannehill's knee injury last December.

Adam Gase worked with Manning during their time together with the Denver Broncos.

“He said, ‘Hey 18, [Ryan] Tannehill went down,'” Archie Manning said. “[Gase] said, ‘I think he’s going to miss some time. The first question I’m going to get at the press conference in the morning is if I’m going to try to bring you to Miami. What do you want me to tell them?'”

Said Archie: “The text message came back from Peyton, ‘You tell them I could probably come play, but there’s no way I can miss carpool the next two weeks.’ So, he was done.”

The agent for Jarvis Landry put a deadline of start of the regular season on a contract extneion.

Landry will “absolutely not” be angry if no deal is reached, according to his agent.

Landry has one year left on his contract that will pay him $893,850 this season, less money than at least 100 other NFL receivers will earn in 2017.

“The ball is still in their court; we are happy to go into a fourth year healthy and eager to put another year in the books,” agent Damarius Bilbo said.

Ndamukong Suh: Dolphins Have 'Never Been Scared' of Patriots

Jun 15, 2017 2:49 PM

The New England Patriots have won all but one division title since 2003, but Ndamukong Suh says the Miami Dolphins aren't scared of their AFC East rival.

"I think we respect all opponents we have, we obviously start the season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and look forward to that," Suh said when asked how much he focuses on the Patriots.

"We have many games prior to [the Patriots] that are going to be big focuses. But we understand that New England is at the top of the East right now. We understand that we need to have certain particular game plans for them, as they do for us. Taking that into account, I think one of the great things about Miami and this team, we've never been scared of the New England Patriots. We never will be. So, with that being said, when we play them late in the season, we'll be prepared."

Miami is the one team to disrupt New England run of division titles, taking the crown in 2008. The Dolphins also split contests from 2013 to 2015.
