A source familiar with the situation said the Raiders are expected to sign free agent quarterback Daunte Culpepper today.
With the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft, the Raiders signed JaMarcus Russell, who is 6-foot-5 and in the 250-pound range. Culepper is the only quarterback on the market with comparable size, at 6-foot-4 and a listed weight of 265 pounds.
Coach Lane Kiffin confirmed Sunday night Culpepper was being brought in for a workout. He also said the Raiders had already seen Culpepper recently.

First-Round Pick Ginn Agrees To Terms With Miami
Wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr., Miami's first-round pick and the ninth pick overall, has agreed to terms with the Dolphins.
Financial terms were not immediately available.
Ginn, a receiver and kick returner, reached the agreement after missing five practices for rookies. The deal means the Dolphins will have all 87 players on their roster under contract when the full squad begins training camp Saturday.
Ginn And Dolphins Getting Close On Contract
Unsigned first-round draft pick Ted Ginn Jr. was absent when Miami Dolphins rookies held their first training camp practice. New coach Cam Cameron said the team had made progress in contract negotiations with the former Ohio State star.
"They're getting close," Cameron said.
Ginn, a receiver and kick returner, was the only unsigned player among the 87 on the roster.
Among those taking part in the workout under Cameron was quarterback John Beck, a second-round draft pick from Brigham Young who signed a four-year contract July 23. Beck is the first quarterback selected by the Dolphins in the first two rounds since Dan Marino in 1983.
Beck Signs With Dolphins
Quarterback John Beck has signed a four-year contract with the Dolphins. The team's other top pick, Ted Ginn Jr., remained unsigned Monday, a day before the first scheduled rookie practice.
Beck, a second-round pick, threw for 79 touchdowns and 11,021 yards at Brigham Young. He was the first quarterback selected by Miami in the first two rounds since Dan Marino in 1983.
Beck's agent, Justin Schulman, said his client agreed to the deal late Sunday, but declined to release its terms.
Ginn, an Ohio State receiver and Miami's first-round choice, remained unsigned. Ginn's agent did not return a phone message.
Beck, Ginn Close To Signing
The deadline to finish signing this year's rookie class is upon the Dolphins, and the team worked toward completing the final two deals late Sunday evening.
It appears the last-minute negotiations will be successful for at least one of the remaining top picks. When rookies were to report for a late-evening dinner Sunday, quarterback John Beck and wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. had yet to finish contracts -- but both were close.
Beck, who needs to finalize a few sticking points, could agree to terms as early as this morning, possibly before a late-morning orientation meeting. Beck's team of representatives was expected to come back one more time with some final demands on Miami's most recent term sheet.
Cameron: Culpepper Trade Fell Through
After promising in early June he would reveal details of the Dolphins' dealings with quarterback Daunte Culpepper, coach Cam Cameron made good Friday.
In a news conference at his charity golf event, he said the Dolphins were working on a trade but it fell though, and that was why Culpepper was in limbo so long.
"Immediately, there was an opportunity to trade," Cameron said at Orangebrook Country Club. "Then for a variety of reasons, the trade did not take place. The trade process drew the whole thing out. Ultimately, the trade was not able to get done, and we moved in a different direction."
Cameron said he and Culpepper agreed to wait for a trade the moment it was determined the starter would be Trent Green, who the Dolphins acquired in the June 5 trade. But last month Culpepper said he would refuse to renegotiate his hefty contract, effectively blocking any trade. Culpepper wanted to be released, and that finally happened Tuesday.
Dolphins' Porter Gets Fine, Avoids Suspension
Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter's eventful trip to a Las Vegas casino reportedly will only affect his wallet and not his playing status.
According to a report on the NFL Network, Porter is expected to be fined three game checks today after he was convicted of battery against Bengals tackle Levi Jones in a March fight in a casino. The report on the league's own TV channel said Porter won't receive a suspension, but he will lose a total of $141,176.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello declined comment, saying there was nothing to announce as of Thursday night. Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene said the team cannot comment until an official announcement is made.
Miami Releases Culpepper
The Miami Dolphins released quarterback Daunte Culpepper on Tuesday, ending the former Pro Bowler's short stint in South Florida and wrapping up what became a contentious split between the player and the team.
The Dolphins made the move in a one-sentence release, without further comment.
Miami tried for weeks to trade Culpepper, the former Minnesota Vikings star who was acquired by the Dolphins before the 2006 season even though he was coming off major knee surgery. Culpepper never regained his form last year, struggling in four games before the team shut him down so he could continue rehabilitating the knee.
Dillon Likes Miami?
Although the Dolphins believe Lorenzo Booker is ready to be Ronnie Brown's backup, they likely would explore veteran options if Brown is hurt, Booker struggles in camp or potential third-stringers Jesse Chatman and Patrick Cobbs flop. Free agent Corey Dillon likes the Dolphins, but they haven't called.
Chambers Passed Breath Test In DWI Arrest
Dolphins receiver Chris Chambers passed a breathalyzer test at the police station after his Saturday morning arrest for driving while impaired, reckless driving and speeding, according to sources.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Chambers was taken into custody at 2:31 a.m. Saturday. He was released on $1,750 bond Saturday afternoon, and is scheduled to appear in court today at 1 p.m. He has been working out in North Carolina in preparation for training camp, to which veterans must report on July 27.
Saturday, Mecklenburg Capt. Lisa Goelz said there are no police reports for traffic violations, and Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene said the franchise was "in the process of gathering more information."
Dolphins' Chambers Reportedly Arrested
