Bush Not Going To Consider Options Until Term Is Over

Jeb Bush is flattered by the new job offers that are coming his way, now that his term as governor of Florida will end after the first of the year. One job that has been suggested has been Commissioner of the NFL. I'm flattered," Bush said Wednesday of the NFL's interest, "but I'm governor of the state of Florida and I intend to be governor until I leave -- which is January 2007. And I'm not going to consider any other options other than being governor until I finish."'

Fred Taylor is in the second half of his career and is attempting to drop the 'Fragile' moniker he's had all these many years. He is leaner than he was when he came out of the University of Florida, coming in at 222 pounds. "At 30, you have to do things that you didn't do when you were younger," Taylor said. "That's all I'm doing." According to Pete Prisco, he is showing the same bursts of speed that he used to show when he first came into the NFL. "That's the real key," Taylor said about eliminating junk food. "That takes getting used to, but you go to bed at 10:30 and it's not that hard."

The Jaguars, who had lost four-year veteran tackle Mike Pearson, a former starter to free agency hope to upgrade their depth at the tackle position by making this move. Hunter, 24 was alleged to have slammed a bar patron onto a shuffleboard table.

Jimmy Smith, one of the most prolific receivers in NFL history, has decided to retire. Smith, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, who overcame several health problems and a drug addiction during his 13 seasons, scheduled a news conference Thursday with the Jacksonville Jaguars to announce the decision. His retirement was first reported by FoxSports.com. The 37-year-old receiver led the Jags with 70 catches for 1,023 yards and six touchdowns last season. He ranks seventh in NFL history with 862 receptions and 11th in receiving yards.
