Schaub Uncertain About Long-Term Contract

Matt Schaub is entering the final year of his contract, but it remains to be seen if the Texans will commit long-term to their quarterback. The Houston Chronicle took a good look at the situation, noting that negotiations will be tricky. Schaub recently said that he didn't know whether his agent was involved in long-term talks with the team.

Three NFL coaches will honor the late Mike Heimerdinger, the longtime assistant coach and coordinator, by helping his foundation raise cancer awareness and provide healthier meals for survivors. Mike Shanahan, Gary Kubiak and Jeff Fisher will take part in the Drive for Dinger, a two-day fundraising dinner, silent auction and golf tournament that starts June 28.

The Texans have agreed to contract extensions with general manager Rick Smith and coach Gary Kubiak, according to a source. Smith and Kubiak are in the last years of their current contracts and nothing formal has been announced.

Kubiak: Brian Cushing 'Is Fine'

Brian Cushing had an MRI on his troublesome knee Monday, which apparently came back with positive results. The Texans linebacker has struggled with knee issues throughout his young career. He had offseason surgery after his Rookie of the Year season. "He's fine. Everything is fine. We will err on the side of caution here. I don't even know if I'll practice him the rest of the week. He did work out, he just didn't go with the team," coach Gary Kubiak said.

Texans Reach Deals With Ball, Forsett

The Texans have reached contract agreements with cornerback Alan Bell and running back Justin Forsett. Ball, 27, played five seasons for the Cowboys. He'll be reunited with his former Dallas coach, Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. Forsett, 27, gives the Texans three veteran running backs with Arian Foster and Ben Tate. Forsett worked out for the Texans last week.
