Adrian Peterson will likely be the lead running back for the Detroit Lions for the foreseeable future.

Peterson had more snaps, rushes and yards than the rest of Detroit's running backs combined in Week 3.

The future Hall of Famer played 40 snaps in the Lions' 26-23 victory against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, getting 22 carries for 75 yards along with one catch for 10 yards.

"It's not anything that those guys are or aren't doing," Darrell Bevell said. "We're just trying to, again, accentuate their positives and put them in positions to be successful. You saw [D'Andre] Swift. His plays were a little bit down. We want to keep those up and get him more involved. The one play he catches, he has a nice catch-and-run, looks fast, looks explosive.

"It's just continuing to manage those guys and putting them in the best situations."

The Detroit Lions anticipate having Kenny Golladay back this weekend against the Arizona Cardinals.

Golladay has missed the last two games because of a hamstring injury.

The 26-year-old wide receiver led the NFL with 11 touchdowns last season.

Despite a costly drop in his professional debut, D'Andre Swift still has the confidence of Matthew Stafford.

"I'm throwing it to him a hundred times out of a hundred," Stafford said of the running back. "Trust that kid. He'll make a play."

With 11 seconds left against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, trailing 27-23, Stafford threw to a wide-open Swift for what would have been the game-winning touchdown. The ball slipped through Swift's fingers, ending Detroit's chances at victory.

Swift caught 73 passes in three years at Georgia for 666 yards and five TDs. Pro Football Focus charted just three drops over his college career on 76 catchable balls.

The San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints are the favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.

The 49ers' odds are at +500 while the Saints are at +550. The implied odds of the 49ers winning the conference are at 16.7 percent.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+600), Dallas Cowboys (+650) and Seattle Seahawks (+750) round out the top-5.

Washington has the longest odds at +10,000.

Adrian Peterson has agreed to a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions.

Peterson was released by Washington this past week.

“They’re giving me an opportunity to play," Peterson told Josina Anderson. "I know coach (Darell) Bevell from my days in Minnesota. Ultimately I feel comfortable going there and helping them to get better.”

Kenny Golladay appears next up for a contract extension with the Detroit Lions.

The team is closing in on an extension with the wide receiver, according to a source.

A third-round pick in 2017, Golladay made it known he wanted a new contract before the season begins.

The Detroit Lions and Taylor Decker have agreed to a six-year, $85 million contract extension with $37.5 million in guaranteed money.

Decker is the Lions' left tackle and was the 16th overall pick in the 2016 draft. Decker has started all 55 games he's played in for the Lions.
