Lions Never Got 'Firm Offer' For Third Pick

Apr 24, 2020 9:53 AM

The Detroit Lions used the No. 3 pick on Thursday night and Bob Quinn says the team never received a significant offer for the selection.

Detroit selected cornerback Jeff Okudah.

"We had a lot of conversations," Quinn said. "We never got a firm offer. No team put anything on the table. Had multiple conversations with multiple teams. They were kind of fishing around and we were open for business as you guys know, and nothing was ever put out in front of us to evaluate."

Lions Expected To Trade Down From No. 3 With Giants Or Dolphins

Apr 23, 2020 3:28 PM

The Detroit Lions plan on trading down from No. 3 to either No. 4 or No. 5.

The Lions have a degree of confidence they will agree to a trade with either the New York Giants at No. 4 or the Miami Dolphins at No. 5.

The Giants are believed to be targeting an offensive tackle at No. 4, as are the Dolphins at No. 5.

The targets are Georgia tackle Andrew Thomas, Alabama tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. or Iowa tackle Tristan Wirfs.

The Dolphins could trade up to No. 3, but could target a quarterback such as Justin Herbert or Tua Tagovailoa.

Dolphins Trying To Trade For No. 3 Without Giving Up No. 5

Apr 22, 2020 5:21 PM

The Miami Dolphins are attempting to move up to the No. 3 pick without trading out of No. 5.

The Detroit Lions own the No. 3 pick and have listened to offers for the selection.

Miami also owns the 18th and 26th picks.

According to the traditional version of the draft value trade chart, the third picks is worth 2,200 points compared to 1,700 for No. 5. The Dolphins could get close if they package No. 18, No. 26 and No. 39.

Lions Open To Trading Down From No. 3

Apr 17, 2020 1:48 PM

The Detroit Lions have begun engaging teams in conversations about trading down from No 3.

"I've had a few of those conversations over the last week or so. Had a few of those conversations, honestly, as far back as the combine," Bob Quinn said. "And then there will be more substantive talks next week if people are interested.

"... If I'm going to do something, I think we'll have a pretty good idea Thursday afternoon of kind of where we stand. I don't think I'm going to be making a huge decision on trading the No. 3 overall pick while I'm on the clock, while I'm virtually talking to our head coach and our other personnel."

The Lions are looking for a player who can immediately contribute. Detroit has been linked with Jeffrey Okudah for months.

Damon Harrison Was 'Hell-Bent' On Getting Out Of Detroit

Apr 14, 2020 8:12 AM

Damon "Snacks" Harrison says he didn't want to play for the Detroit Lions and was "hell-bent on getting out" of the city.

The Lions traded with the New York Giants for Harrison on Oct. 25, 2018.

"I was a bit angry," Harrison said of the trade during an appearance on the Green Light podcast, hosted by Chris Long.

"To be completely honest with you, I didn't want to go to Detroit because of some things that I heard from some guys in the past and some guys who were there," he said. "So when I got the call that that's where I was traded, I didn't answer the phone for a couple hours. [Lions general manager] Bob Quinn was calling me and I didn't pick up the phone because I was trying to figure out a way to get out of it."

The defensive lineman was released by the Lions in what he called "a mutual agreement" on Feb. 25. He had two years remaining on his deal after signing an $11 million extension in August.

"It's nothing against the people of Detroit, the city or anything like that," the eight-year veteran said. "I'll forever love the city of Detroit, but I just had to go try to put myself into a situation where I saw myself there for two or three years to end my career, and I just didn't see myself in Detroit for that long."
