Joe Burrow 'On Track For Full Go' For Week 1

May 19, 2021 7:36 AM

Joe Burrow, who underwent reconstructive left knee surgery in December, is "all systems go" for the Sept. 12 regular-season opener, according to Dr. Neal ElAttrache of Kerlan-Jobe in Los Angeles.

"He's on track for full go for start of the season," ElAttrache, who operated on Burrow in December, said. "He's doing all the work. He's worked his tail off and been an amazingly mature participant in his recovery. He's focused and great to work with."

Burrow had told "The Cris Collinsworth Podcast" that he expected to be there for the first snap in 2021.

Brian Callahan Sees Joe Mixon As Every Down Back

May 5, 2021 9:04 AM

The Cincinnati Bengals expect Joe Mixon to have a larger workload in 2021.

They released Giovanni Bernard last month, creating some carries in the offense.

"I don't want Joe to leave the field, personally, and I think he's up to that challenge," offensive coordinator Brian Callahan said. "He has some things he has to improve pass-protection-wise. Joe shouldn't come off the field. He should be on the field every down. He's aware of that."

Mixon missed the last 10 games of the 2020 season due to injury, ending the season on injured reserve. The starting back played just 60 percent of the snaps in 2018 and 2019.
