Palmer On Arrests: "It Has To Stop"

Nov 9, 2014 9:13 PM

Quarterback Carson Palmer is angrily speaking out about his teammates' behavior. "It has to stop," Palmer told Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com Monday, hours after hearing of cornerback Johnathan Joseph's arrest on marijuana charges in Boone County. "If it doesn't stop, we're not going to have any fans left and I don't blame them. "It's ridiculous. We can't get through a month without getting a guy arrested. It happens on another team and they're shocked and surprised to hear about it. With us, you hear about it and it doesn't surprise you and you just shake your head and say, 'Another one.' "

Bengals Sign Geathers To Big Extension

Nov 25, 2014 10:37 PM

The Bengals showed their hand early in free agency Wednesday when they made their third-youngest regular their highest-paid player on defense with a deal that secures sack leader Robert Geathers for the next six seasons. Head coach Marvin Lewis said last week the Bengals aim to keep their own and instead of holding back money for unrestricted free agents that come loose in March they struck a deal just 10 days after the season for Geathers after he became the club's first double-digit sacker in 14 years with 10.5 in his third season. The contract, which can grow from $32.5 to $33.7 million with incentives and gives him more in the first year than the deal for Colts sack ace Robert Mathis at $14 million, takes Geathers out of restricted free agency. It anchors a 23-year-old the club feels can consistently give it a productive pass rusher, always one of the most expensive positions in unfettered free agency.

Thurman Done In Cincinnati?

Nov 8, 2014 7:32 AM

Coach Marvin Lewis refused to talk about suspended linebacker Odell Thurman on Tuesday, another indication that he has written him out of the Cincinnati Bengals' plans. Thurman was suspended for the season because he violated the NFL's substance abuse policy. He can apply to the league for reinstatement before next season. "Odell is not a member of this football team," Lewis said Tuesday. "He's on suspension by the NFL. He's got a long road to go. I'm not even going to spend any time talking about Odell. "We're talking about our '07 season. He's not part of this football team. We don't need to talk about it."
