Panthers To Hire Ben McAdoo As Offensive Coordinator

Jan 24, 2022 8:37 AM

The Carolina Panthers will hire Ben McAdoo as offensive coordinator.

McAdoo will replace Joe Brady, who was fired as the team's offensive coordinator with five games left in the season.

McAdoo was the head coach of the New York Giants for two years (2016-17) after spending the two previous seasons as their offensive coordinator under Tom Coughlin, who is one of Panthers coach Matt Rhule's mentors. McAdoo was also the Green Bay Packers' quarterbacks coach in 2012 and 2013.

Panthers Have No Intention Of Trading Away Christian McCaffrey

Jan 11, 2022 8:58 AM

The Carolina Panthers have no intention of trading away Christian McCaffrey after another injury plagued season.

"There was a report back in November that we were actively trying to trade him, and I told him that was not true,'' general manager Scott Fitterer said Monday of his exit interview with McCaffrey following the Panthers' 5-12 season. "What I did tell him was, 'Hey, listen, I'll take any call. Call and make any offer you want.'

"'That doesn't mean we'll do it. That doesn't mean we're shopping you.' I look at Christian as a foundation piece on this team. We're a better team when he's on the field. He's one of the elite players in the NFL.''

The Panthers may use McCaffrey more as a slot receiver moving forward to keep him healthy.

McCaffrey is the NFL's highest paid running back at $16 million per year.

The Carolina Panthers plan to retain Matt Rhule as head coach for the 2022 season.

Rhule has a career record of 10-22 heading into Sunday's season finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Panthers owner David Tepper hired Rhule in January 2020 to succeed Ron Rivera, who was fired with four games remaining in the 2019 season. Tepper gave him a seven-year, $62 million contract in addition to paying $6 million to buy out Rhule's deal at Baylor.
