Matt Ryan Isn't Worried About Next Contract

Jun 18, 2014 2:48 PM

Perhaps destined to become the NFL's next $100 million quarterback, Matt Ryan isn't overly concerned about his next contract.

The six-year, $66 million deal Ryan signed with the Atlanta Falcons as a rookie in 2008 expires after the 2013 season.

"I understand the nature of the business and how everything operates," he said.

"At the same time, my focus has always been to just try to prepare myself to just play and let all the other stuff take care of itself. I'm not really too worried about it. My sole focus this offseason is to prepare myself, to work really hard and to try to give ourselves another chance like we had last year."

Jermichael Finley Modeling Himself After Gonzalez

Jun 19, 2014 6:47 AM

Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley looks up to counterpart Tony Gonzalez.

"The tight end I would like to mimic is (Tony) Gonzalez. He's consistent," Finley said on KFAN-FM Wednesday. "That's where I would like to take my game."

Gonzalez will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer when he retires as the No. 1 tight end to play in the NFL.

Finley has all the physical tools, but inconsistency has been the issue.

White: 'Super Bowl Or Bust' For Falcons

May 18, 2014 3:39 AM

Roddy White says it's "Super Bowl or bust" for the Atlanta Falcons entering the 2013 season.

The wide receiver said that until last season the Falcons were "satisfied" with just making the playoffs.

"I think that the first three [playoff appearances under coach Mike Smith] we were getting there and were just having fun being there. And then we turned a curb, and we said we have to stop just getting there and we have to win games," White said.

"We're ready to take that next step. We know how good our football team is and the players we got, so it's either Super Bowl or nothing for us right now."

Gonzalez Returned Because Falcons Have 'Great Football Team'

Jun 18, 2014 2:52 PM

Tony Gonzalez said during the 2012 season that he was very close to retirement, but the tight end decided to return to the Atlanta Falcons because of their elite status.

"Matt Ryan, Arthur Blank, Mike Smith, Roddy White, all the guys really want me back," Gonzalez said.

"I went home thinking it was over, and I talked to my family and really sat down with them and discussed the pros and cons of returning, and really, I couldn’t think of too many cons. ... You know what? We've got a great football team, and I look forward to seeing what we can do this year."

Gonzalez is still searching for the elusive Super Bowl ring.

Falcons Release Tyson Clabo

Oct 31, 2014 6:40 AM

The Atlanta Falcons have released right tackle Tyson Clabo in a salary-cap move.

"We're really disappointed, but at the same time we're excited about new experiences. We'll have to see where we go from here. This was definitely unexpected," Clabo told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The Falcons currently are only about $2 million under the salary cap and will need more room than that to sign their draft picks.
