Jim Harbaugh Agrees To New Deal With Michigan

Feb 18, 2022 8:50 AM

Jim Harbaugh has agreed to a new contract with the Michigan Wolverines.

The new agreement alters the one Harbaugh agreed to last year and adds a year to a deal that now runs through the 2026 season.

Harbaugh flirted with becoming the next head coach of the Minnesota Vikings last month.

"I love Michigan Football, the University of Michigan and the Ann Arbor community," Harbaugh said in a statement. "My family and I are excited to continue leading this football program, and we are thankful for the support that our athletic department and university administration have demonstrated toward the team. I appreciate all that our players, coaches and staff are doing to excel on and off the football field. My enthusiasm for tomorrow, the day after and every day following is as high as ever, and we are ready to get on the practice field and start preparations for the 2022 season. Go Blue!"

Jim Harbaugh Stays At Michigan After Vikings Decline To Offer Job

Feb 3, 2022 8:42 AM

Jim Harbaugh has informed Michigan he will remain at Michigan for the 2022 season despite interviewing for the Minnesota Vikings.

Harbaugh told athletic director Warde Manuel that this would not be a recurring issue and that he would be staying at Michigan as long as the school wants him.

Kevin O'Connell, offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams, has emerged as the favorite for the job.

Harbaugh did not receive an offer from the Vikings before he left. Harbaugh had been planning for his interview with Minnesota as if he was going to be hired by the Vikings and prepared his exit from the Wolverines' football program by speaking with recruits about the possibility of his return to the NFL.

"He operated under the assumption that the job was his and prepared for the interview as such," wrote Courtney Cronin on Twitter.
