LT Reaches 13,000-Yard Mark
Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson made history with a eight-yard run on Sunday against the Packers.
Tomlinson reached the 13,000-yard career rushing mark and joined Hall of Famer Walton Payton in an impressive club.
He and Payton are the only players in NFL history to gain 13,000 yards rushing and 4,000 yards receiving.
"It's a great honor for me," Tomlinson said. "The late, great Walter Payton, he was my favorite player of all time, the reason I wanted to play the position."
Jason Taylor Reportedly Leaning Towards Retirment
Jets defensive end Jason Taylor is leaning towards retirement at the end of the season, according to a league source.
The evidence comes from the fact that Taylor, 36, has hired CAA for his off-field interests.
Sterger's Lawyer Expects Meeting With NFL
An attorney for Jenn Sterger said Saturday he expects his client to meet with the NFL next week about the league's investigation into the Brett Favre matter.
Sterger is the former Jets sideline hostess who allegedly received inappropriate text messages and lewd photos from Favre in 2008 when he was with the team.
Jets Sticking To Two-Man Rushing Attack
Jets coach Rex Ryan says that he'll stick to using LaDainian Tomlinson and Shonn Greene "heavily" as the season progresses.
Tomlinson has 92 carries for 490 yards and five touchdowns, while Greene has 71 attempts for 323 yards and a score.
Versus Cancels Sterger's TV Show
Jenn Sterger's television show, The Daily Line, has been canceled by the Versus Network.
The show is being canceled because of low ratings, according to the network.
Sterger manager Phil Reese said Friday the decision is "unfortunate" but "part of the business."
She allegedly was sent lewd photos and inappropriate text messages by Brett Favre back in 2008.
Sterger 'Leaning Towards' Meeting With NFL
Jenn Sterger, the former employee of the Jets that allegedly received lude text messages from Brett Favre, is still thinking about meeting with the NFL.
Sterger's manager, Phil Reese, says that Sterger has not met with league investigators.
He did not say if any meetings with the league are planned but that "she is strongly considering it and is leaning towards it."
Tomlinson Calls Jets Best Team He's Played On
LaDainian Tomlinson has been very impressed with his Jets team through the first few weeks of the season.
"Yes, I have been on some very fine teams," Tomlinson told Scott Van Pelt on ESPN Radio. "But I want to tell you this is the best team I've been on, top to bottom, talent-wise, coaching staff-wise, organization-wise. The whole nine. This is the best opportunity I've had to win the championship."
Subway Super Bowl Still A Long Shot
With the Jets 5-1 and Giants 4-2, the media is beginning talk of a potential 'Subway' Super Bowl happening in Dallas.
Brian Leonhard thinks it will be "insane" around New york if both teams get to the Super Bowl this season. "We're going to do our best to do our part," he said. "If they happen to do theirs, that would be a lot of fun."
"The opponent doesn't matter to me," Rex Ryan said. "It could be the Giants, be Dallas, it could be anybody. As long as we're there, I couldn't care less who we play."
In the Super Bowl era, the Giants are 4-0 in NFC Championship Games. The Jets are 1-3 in AFL/AFC Championship Games. The teams have never made it to a conference championship game in the same season.
Jets To Rotate Revis, Cromartie On Top Receivers
The Jets may opt to rotate Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie on opposing No. 1 receivers for the remainder of the season.
Cromartie has exceeded expectations in his coverage.
"I anticipate that," Cromartie told the Daily News. "We feel we have the best cornerback tandem in the league. Both of us are basically No. 1 corners."
Rex Ryan suggested that the Jets "can be flexible now" and "do whatever we want" with their pair of elite cornerbacks.
Revis Declares Himself '100 Percent'
Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis has declared himself "100 percent" healed from a troublesome hamstring injury.
"Yeah, I'm 100 percent," Revis said Monday.
He pulled his hamstring five weeks ago.
Coming off the bye week, the Jets will face the Packers on Sunday.
