Stephon Gilmore Reports To Camp With Patriots

Jul 22, 2021 8:36 PM

Stephon Gilmore reported to the New England Patriots on Thursday and was subsequently placed on the active/physically unable to perform list due to a partially torn quad.

Gimore had stayed away from voluntary practices in the spring, as well as mandatory minicamp, while publicly expressing a desire for the team to upgrade his contract.

Gilmore is scheduled to earn a base salary of $7 million in 2021. Gilmore is in the final year of the five-year, $65 million contract he signed with the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent in 2017.

Jul 19, 2021 5:37 PM

There hasn't been any "recent progress" between the New England Patriots and Stephon Gilmore on either a long-term contract extension or a raise for 2021, according to a report.

The situation could change with training camps beginning throughout the league next week.

Gilmore is slated to make $7 million in base salary for the upcoming season after the Patriots moved up $5 million of his contract to 2020. The cornerback didn't attend New England’s offseason program, including the team’s mandatory minicamp.

Cam Newton Views Season As 'Put Up Or Shut Up' Time

Jul 16, 2021 8:25 AM

Cam Newton says he views the 2021 season as "put up or shut up" time.

The New England Patriots quarterback admitted that his performance in 2020 was "obviously not good enough."

Newton, who said he will be reporting for training camp July 22 in advance of the team's first practice July 28, was a guest on ESPN Radio's Keyshawn, JWill & Zubin show.

Newton added that having a full offseason in the team's system should benefit him.

"I don't want to get so caught up in promises and things like that, but I can guarantee you that there's been a shift in comfort of knowing more. And I think that's added value in itself," he said.

N'Keal Harry Requests Trade From Patriots

Jul 6, 2021 2:41 PM

N'Keal Harry's agent told NFL Network in a statement that he has formally requested the New England Patriots trade his client.

"For the past several months, I have been working in cooperation with the Patriots behind the scenes to put a plan in place to allow N'Keal to thrive in New England. Through two seasons, he has 86 targets, which obviously hasn't met the expectations the Patriots and N'Keal had when they drafted a dominant downfield threat who was virtually unstoppable at the point of attack in college. Following numerous conversations with the Patriots, I believe it's time for a fresh start and best for both parties if N'Keal moves on before the start of training camp. That is why I have informed the Patriots today I am formally requesting a trade on behalf of my client," agent Jamal Tooson said in the statement.

"N'Keal understands a key ingredient to production is opportunity. He will continue to work hard to develop and refine his craft after missing a large portion of his rookie year to injury. His draft-day expectations for his NFL career have not changed. We are confident success is just around the corner for him and will aggressively pursue it."

Harry was the 32nd overall pick in the 2019 draft.

Peyton Manning credits his mother, Olivia Manning, for keeping Tom Brady's Super Bowl ring count to seven instead of 11.

“If it wasn’t for my mother, Olivia Manning, he’d have 11 of ’em,” Manning said of Brady.
