Donald Trump offered campaign cash to Arlen Specter if he were to drop the Spygate inquiry into the New England Patriots. Trump also told Specter he was acting on behalf of Robert Kraft.

Trump and Kraft denied involvement in any effort to influence Specter's investigation. 

"This is completely false," said Jason Miller, a senior adviser to Trump. "We have no idea what you're talking about." Miller declined to answer a series of follow-up questions. A Patriots spokesman said Kraft "never asked Donald Trump to talk to Arlen Specter on his behalf."

"Mr. Kraft is not aware of any involvement of Trump on this topic and he did not have any other engagement with Specter or his staff," the spokesman said via email.

The New England Patriots have held internal discussions about trading with the Atlanta Falcons for Julio Jones, according to a report.

Negotiations could intensify for several teams as June 2 approaches. That's when the Falcons can save more than $15 million against the cap by releasing or trading Jones.

The New England Patriots have agreed to re-sign Brian Hoyer on a one-year deal. 

Hoyer is in his third stint with the Patriots.

The Patriots previously re-signed Cam Newton and also drafted Mac Jones.

Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will travel to Foxboro to face the New England Patriots in Week 4 of the 2021 season.

Brady is currently 1,154 passing yards behind Drew Brees for the NFL's all-time career record.

That means if Brady were to average 289.6 yards per game in 2021 — his average in 2020 — he would break the all-time record in Week Four, when the Buccaneers play at New England on Sunday Night Football.

The New England Patriots have declined the fifth-year option on Sony Michel's rookie contract, according to a source.

Monday was the deadline for teams to exercise the options for players selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft.

Michel has rushed for 2,292 yards and 14 touchdowns in three seasons. He also has 26 receptions for 258 yards and a touchdown.

The Patriots would have owed Michel a base salary of about $4.5 million, fully guaranteed, in 2022 if they had exercised his option.
