Patriots Feared Tom Brady Would Sign With Dolphins

Jun 30, 2021 8:17 AM

The New England Patriots "had very real concerns" early last offseason that Tom Brady would sign with the Miami Dolphins in free agency, according to a report.

The report cites Brady's relationship with Dolphins minority owner Bruce Beal as one of the main causes for concern for the Patriots.

Obviously, the concerns were unfounded as Brady signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and won a Super Bowl.

Bill Belichick Again Claims He's Not A Fan Of Analytics

Jun 23, 2021 9:36 AM

Bill Belichick repeated his disdain for analytics while speaking on Tuesday at the General Manager Forum.

"I'd prefer good players, good fundamentals and good execution," Belichick said.

Belichick made similar comments back in 2019.

"I've never looked at one," Belichick said two years ago regarding analytics websites. "I don't even care to look at one. I don't care what they say."

While Belichick downplays analytics, but the evidence shows that he relies on and incorporates advanced statistical analysis into his approach to football.

Jun 15, 2021 9:09 AM

Stephon Gilmore wants a new deal from the New England Patriots and Jalen Ramsey is trying to take advantage of that.

Ramsey tweeted to Gilmore and reminded the cornerback that Major League Baseball star Mookie Betts left Boston for Los Angeles and won a championship.

Gilmore, who turns 31 in September, is entering the final year of his contract -- which pays him just $7 million in base salary for this season.

Stephon Gilmore Skips Mandatory Minicamp With Patriots

Jun 14, 2021 7:12 PM

Stephon Gilmore did not report to mandatory minicamp with the New England Patriots on Monday.

Gilmore could be making a statement about his contract, as he is scheduled to earn a base salary of $7 million in 2021.

The Patriots had advanced $4.5 million of Gilmore's 2021 salary to him last year, leading to this year's low figure.

Dan Marino: 'Don't Want' Bill Belichick To Top Don Shula In Wins

Jun 3, 2021 9:00 AM

Dan Marino is hoping Bill Belichick doesn't surpass Don Shula on the NFL's all-time coaching wins list.

Shula, who coached Marino for the first 13 years of the quarterback's 17-year Miami Dolphins career, surpassed George Halas as the NFL's winningest coach in 1993.

Shula has 328 wins (347 including playoffs). However, Belichick is lurking in the wings with 280 wins, just 48 shy of matching Shula as the NFL's winningest coach.

"I hope he don't get it," Marino said emphatically. "I'm a Dolphin for life. Coach Shula for life. I don't want him to get it."
