Steven Jackson said Thursday that allegations from a former girlfriend that he assaulted her when she was nine months pregnant are "not true."
Supriya Harris filed a complaint with Las Vegas police alleging that an "enraged" Jackson threw her to the ground, bloodied her and then ordered her to conceal the alleged abuse from hospital officials.
Jackson, in a statement on his website, denied the allegations:
"The accusations are especially hurtful because those who truly know me know that those actions would be out of character for me. Miss Harris is the mother of my son, a son that I love and that I willingly support emotionally and financially. I will address this matter thoroughly through the appropriate avenues, but not through the media."

Report: Seahawks Interview Rams Assistant
The Seahawks have interviewed Art Valero, an assistant offensive line coach for the Rams, according to reports.
Valero would likely be seeking the same position with Seattle because Pete Carroll already has hired veteran offensive line coach Alex Gibbs.
Valero has coached the past two seasons with the Rams.
Rams Fire Longtime Trainer Anderson
Rams have fired longtime head athletic trainer Jim Anderson.
St. Louis coach Steve Spagnuolo said Saturday that he would begin a search for a replacement.
Spagnuolo said the move is not related to a rash of injuries during the team's 1-15 season.
Carriker: Rams Should Draft Suh
Rams defensive tackle Adam Carriker wouldn't mind if the team used the first pick in April's NFL Draft to take Ndamukong Suh.
Suh, generally considered the top prospect in the draft, could actually take Carriker's job in St. Louis.
Suh and Carriker both played for Nebraska.
"Yeah, bring in Suh," Carriker said. "I mean, why not? If they feel he's the best player. Whoever they bring in, they know what they're doing."
Rams Could Be Match For Vick
Because Michael Vick remains under contract with Philadelphia, Rams general manager Billy Devaney can't speak publicly on the topic.
But Devaney has consistently said the team will explore all options to improve the club. He has made it a point in interviews to note that the "four pillars" approach is being softened this offseason. In other words, the Rams are more likely to take a chance on a so-called "character-risk" player than last year at this time.
Devaney worked for the Atlanta Falcons before coming to St. Louis, so he's very familiar with Vick. In fact, Devaney visited Vick in prison while Vick was serving 18 months for running a dogfighting operation.
Bulger Weighing Retirement
Multiple sources have told the Post-Dispatch that Marc Bulger is considering retiring.
Bulger has had three tough seasons in a row in terms of injuries, level of play, supporting cast and organizational upheaval.
Rams Looking For Win, Not Suh
The Rams say they are looking to win their second game of the season on Sunday, not land the first overall pick.
St. Louis would secure the first pick in April's NFL Draft if they fell to San Francisco. If the Rams win and the Lions lose, Detroit will earn the top spot.
Spagnuolo wants his club "to play as a team, basically do what they've been doing, which is to have tremendous fight, tremendous resolve. It's a character group of guys; I've always said that. Just praying and hoping to finish out a winning note. That's what we're all hoping for this week."
The first overall pick is widely considered to be Ndamukong Suh.
