Haslett Could Coach Rams In 2009

Nov 8, 2014 3:45 PM

Jim Haslett, who replaced Scott Linehan as coach of the Rams this week, could remain with the team through the 2009 season. No "interim" tag has been placed on his title with the team, and if the Rams respond to his presence over the final three months of the season, he'll likely return. "Right now, I'm worrying about this year," Haslett said. "Coaches live year-to-year, anyway. So I'm going to worry about this year and these next 12 games and try to win some games."

Defensive Coordinator Jim Haslett, once the coach of the New Orleans Saints, will replace Scott Linehan on an interim basis. The Rams made the decision in the middle of the night and made it public several hours later. "I have enormous respect for Scott Linehan as a person and believe under the right circumstances he will be regarded one day as a fine head coach," owner Chip Rosenbloom said in a release. "Unfortunately, the situation with the Rams as they exist today is no longer acceptable, and we have to make a change."

Holt Shocked, Tries To Put 'Madness' Aside

Nov 4, 2014 10:16 PM

Rams wide receiver Torry Holt is shocked at all that has gone on in St. Louis so far this season and is looking to avoid all the controversy. He was especially shaken by the demotion of quarterback Marc Bulger. "I was shocked, man, I was really shocked," Holt said. "I went up to Marc immediately and apologized to him as a receiver and for our receiver group and the offense for not making enough plays to give him an opportunity to stay on the football field with us." Holt is happy to be playing football this weekend in hopes that it'll relive some of the attention from all that has gone on within the organization. "It gives us a platform to escape all this madness," he said. "You can get away from everything that's going on and actually go out and play a game that we've always loved to play since we were youngsters."

Holt Calls Out Rams' Offensive Line

Sep 28, 2014 8:53 AM

Rams' receiver Torry Holt has called out the team's offensive line for not doing a better job of protecting quarterback Marc Bulger, according to Associated Press. "Those guys, the offensive line guys, have to continue to take more pride in what they're doing to keep the quarterback clean," Holt said after practice on Friday. "I can stand here and say what needs to be done and who needs to do what, but that's not going to solve anything." "It's going to come down to the guys up front that's protecting Marc and giving Steven [Jackson] running lanes and giving us time to get open in the secondary to make things happen. They have to continue to take a stronger initiative, a more sense of urgency to keep No. 10 off his back. If he continues to get smacked around, we won't be seeing No. 10 for long." Bulger has been sacked ten times already, and St. Louis ranks last in the league in offense.

Rams' Jackson Promised More Carries

Aug 15, 2014 10:04 AM

Rams' running back Steven Jackson should see more carries this weekend against Seattle, according to St. Louis Post Dispatch. "We have to get the ball to our best player, No. 39," Offensive Coordinator Al Saunders said. "He hasn't run the ball enough, and we need to make sure that we establish our run." The Rams are last in the NFL in total offense and tied for last in scoring. Jackson has 93 rushing yards through the season's first two weeks. "I'm not one of those scat-back guys where two or three carries will do it for me; I need my chance to get a feel for a game and wear defenses down," Jackson said. "We've just got to get that flow of the offense and put together long drives and get into the red zone and score."
